It is a noble profession that's for sure. Be sure to get good marks in the prerequisite courses you must take in order to apply. As for what classes these are, each school will have their own requirements to get in. I was actually considering pharmacy for a while but my grades weren't/still aren't good enough. At my university the Pharm program allows you to apply after you complete one year of a bachelor degree but I talked to the admissions office and in reality they are only looking to accept applicants that completed three years of their degree or actually have their bachelors degree. Ask whatever questions you have to the appropriate people and try and get to know people already in the program.
Above all make sure you get stellar grades in the required classes. For the pharm school at my university those classes were first year chem, first year bio, first year english, one whole year of math and a social studies elective (full year). Get the highest GPA possible in these classes (or whatever ones are required). Try to get some references from your profs too.
It's good you're not in it just to have access to addictive pharmaceuticals because that is a terrible reason to enter into the profession and a sure way to get fired and your reputation tarnished.
A lot of people say it's not exactly the most exciting profession to get into either, especially if you are working at a pharmacy. But there are other options such as working at hospitals. Apparently the hospital gig pays a lot more as well. Either way with the time and effort you invest it is a sure way to have a steady income for the rest of your life.

I'd talk to your School of Pharmacy advisor if you have one, and if not find an advisor that can help you. That's their job.

Not at all. It's something you have to really want to do. I mean that's precisely why it's not easy to get in. During the interview and application process you're going to have to demonstrate in every possible way that this is what you want to do and you will put the education towards a good use. They're not going to accept just anyone. We're talking a career path here, you invest up to 8 years of your life so you can do this for the rest of your life. Not that anything is set in stone, but generally that's why people get into pharmacy.

The first thing you need to do is figure out whether your school even offers a PharmD program. If not, it would be a good bet to have one in mind.
Ask the PharmD program what courses and classes will offer you the best chance of getting in. Its likely that they'll have prerequisites and other "ideal" electives.
Aside from courses and your academic record you should ask about the profile of a "typical" student in the PharmD program. One thing that may help you considerably is experience in a pharmacy or health-related field. I would suggest working as pharm tech. Not only to improve your chances of being accepted but because some PharmD's hate their jobs.
You might also consider doing actual research, but that would require a PhD in pharmacology. It would take about twice as long and the job market is much more competitive.
-------------------- ...the whole experience is (and is as) a profound piece of knowledge. It is an indellible experience; it is forever known. I have known myself in a way I doubt I would have ever occurred except as it did. Smith, P. Bull. Menninger Clinic (1959) 23:20-27; p. 27. ...most subjects find the experience valuable, some find it frightening, and many say that is it uniquely lovely. Osmond, H. Annals, NY Acad Science (1957) 66:418-434; p.436

Well, my exgirlfriend was in pharmacy school and it is taking her about 8 years to get her PharmD... and she's one smart, dedicated motherfucker. She probably could have done it in 6 but is interning at a hospital pharmacy, in several organizations on campus, and holds some position at her sorority, so she stays REALLY busy.
If you try to get it all done in 6 years it's going to be really hard to balance social life and school work.
