Time is so weird
    #10789633 -

Anyone ever feel like they are experiencing the past, the present and the future all at the same time?  Like you are experiencing everything possible in infinity time up to that point.

I get this on LSD and its a pretty good mind fuck.  Definitely at the dose where interacting with a stranger would be near impossible.

I've been reading this biography of Einstein recently, and it's gotten me pretty damn interested in astrophysics even though I'm pretty much a n00b when it comes to that stuff.

What really blows my mind is the whole concept of time being non-absolute/relative and bendable by gravity, since it's the 4th dimension or some shit :strokebeard: I dunno, I just feel like after tripping all of the little intricacies of the universe seem so much more amazing.

its like how some people have the idea of time going in a straight line

but perhaps time is ever happening, everything that is , will, or has happened is always happening?

time is fucked up.

time and space ruin my brain

tripping and looking up at the stars, and the idea that those may have been burned out  for so long and how far away they are,
or seeing 2 stars that appear an inch away from each other are actually light years in distance.

On the fatter doses of lucy, not only is time weird, not only am i passed out on the couch experiencing what seems like all. But also perception of clocks is often QUITE altered. For example, on my 500mcg dose I was looking at my digital clock around peaking time and it was reading 12:01, 12:02, 12:03, 12:04, 12:05, 12:06, 12:07, 12:08, 12:09 at the perceptual rate of seconds passing, like it was clicking through the minutes, the even stranger part though was the fact that once it reached 12:09 it would loop back to 12:01. I was convinced i was hallucinating so i called my friend up to my room to look at the clock. I asked her, "what is the clock doing?" She replies, its ticking through the minutes like seconds and when it reaches 12:09 it loops back to 12:01. Mutual hallucination? Is there such a thing? I know that night felt like one million eternities, and time was absolutely irrelevant, since im convinced i experienced it ALL when i was knocked out. Trippy shit man!

Acid just blows away the idea of time for me. I can follow it on low doses but once you start getting in to 5+ hits no luck for me.

I recently finished a biography/history of the E = MC^2 equation that was probably pretty similar. The whole concept of space-time is mind blowing even without psychedelics. How someone can just come up with these things from our limited earth-side observations is astounding. I get really time-confused on a heavy shroom dose as well. One time in particular I remember someone asking what time it was and another answered 2:30. I remember getting so caught up on what this "2:30" was that it hurt. I knew it was A time but could not comprehend that it was the CURRENT time. Hard to explain but I'm sure you all get me.

As far as nocoast's mutual hallucination encounter, I'd say this is definiately a possibility. Several times I'll catch me and some friends getting on the "same trip". The most noteworthy was me and about 7 other people watching The Dark Side of Oz while peaking. I had never seen the file I was playing; only skipped through it. Because of this, when it switched to color (after the tornado) hallucinations took the reins of all of our perceptions of what was happening on the screen. Someone asked "What is this?" To which I replied "Hmmm.. I don't know, I thought this was just the wizard of oz movie edited with Pink floyd in it, but I guess not; This looks like some sort of screen saver. But hey, its fucking awesome I'm not complaining." The screen had turned in  to a morphing ever changing fractal image of pure beauty and color (why I thought it was a screensaver), and all of us were seeing it. After about 45 seconds of this, the Fairy's pink bubble appears in the middle of the "screen saver" and she pops out of it. Simultaneously the camera angle switched and I was able to make out the characters once more from the still moving background. After realizing what we all just saw was pure hallucination, and that all of us saw arguably the same thing, I praised acid for a minute or two as 2 people who were taking it for the first time began to get really tripped out at this realization. Sorry that was wordy... but good "time"s.

Shrooms helped me realize that time doesn't exist and that we humans just made that bullshit up because we need to understand everything.

If the earth didn't didn't spin or rotate we wouldn't have a clue what time it was.

Our brain has different amino acids that are present on 12 hour cycles.  Time is hardwired, whether we invented it or not.  There's a show on the science channel called "The Human Timepiece" and they have video of a person's brain pulsing every 12 hours with the release of different chemicals; it's unreal.  Dr. Brain Cox has a good documentary on time called "What Time is it?"; it will really make you think.

Did he dream about dragons? Did he dream about deer? Did he whisper  he names of friends who were near?
What songs did they play, and how far away? Why did he whisper, why did she scream?
What does the sound of a screen door mean?
Who talks on the hill? Who goes to the cellar, can you feel the chill? Where does the river, when will the wind?
How far are the mountains? Where do they end? Why would the church?
Did the service begin? Tell me who died, and tell me who cried.
Help me hide in the skin of a deer, my zippered-up bag in the mouth of a stag so swiftly I go through rows of does,
it flows, it flows, it flows, it flows all over the hill where the green grass grows.

Time is great subject.  I know my interest in it was fostered by psychedelics, just as it was for many of you here.  The relativity interpretation of time, as a dimension of space-time is fascinating, confusing and non-intuitive.   But I like the thermodynamic interpretation of time where time it is the progression from order to disorder.  This clears up allot of apparent paradoxes in my mind.  Its hard to reconcile the relativistic and thermodynamic interpretations though - there is discontinuity there.

Some savants can tell the time down to the second on the natch, time feels like its moving faster when im having fun, time feels like it is elapsing slower the more often i look at the clock.  All interesting things about time, but nothing will ever match closing my eyes on a peak of high dose LSD and then looking at my clock what i think is 5 minutes later, same time, 10 minutes later same time, 15 minutes later same time.  Litterally feeling like im just stuck in infinity, forever.  Extremely profound feeling i will never forget.  It completely throws out the window my previously cherished illusions of how reality is put together.  Laying in bed the next day after the trip staring at my pillow as i lay on my side playing with a thread sticking out of pillow case thinking "holy shit that was fuckin' crazy! (blown mind with a small chuckle at the absurdity)"

the idea of time is only created by the need to explain your memories and what has already happened, there is only the now and, it will forever be the now.
and when you think about it when you were a kid an hour felt like a day because everything was new and interesting to you, almost everything was a new experience or intensly entertaining, now when your older and used to the way life is time passes rather quickly, then when your on psychedelics time slows for you yet again because everything is visually intense and there is so much new info to take in making time feel longer then it actually is

i found myself thinking about time recently when high on the herb, and on the come up of L

i simply realized, well these Phish lyrics (from Scents & Subtle Sounds) explain it well,

"If you would stop and notice that we number every day
But allow the many moments left uncounted slip away

You don't have to count them, just enjoy them one by one"

then i started peaking on L, and time became irrelevant
all that exists is the now. it almost hurts to bore your mind with thoughts of past, present, future.

its trippy how time is affected by gravity.
