marijuana withdrawal is REAL
    #10779986 -

Haven't smoked in 3 days, after smoking daily(2-5 times a day) for about a year.
These are my withdrawal symptoms thus far:
1) I can remember otherwise insignificant events that I would normally forget if I was high.
2) I've had very vivid dreams at night, they seem real and I can still control them. This is fucking awesome, I haven't had dreams like this in god knows how long. I love it.
3) My mood is more steady, I find myself able to sit and relax and think WITHOUT forgetting what I'm thinking about!
4) My short term memory is significantly improved (kinda same as #3)
5) I haven't had to worry about when my next smoke session will be.
6) My parents are proud of me
7) I've already saved approx $20.
8) My lungs feel better
9) The cloud in my head is getting smaller & I'm feeling more and more clear-headed with each day..(yea I know its only been 3 days but still!)

I really don't understand how people can have shitty withdrawal symptoms from weed. Sure, there have been a couple times when I've wanted to smoke..but it was only cause I was bored! Once I found something to do the thought of getting high completely vanished.
Overall I'd say the dreams are my favorite part.
Tonight when I get home Ill be blazing it up and it should be wonderful, I'm looking forward to it.
Peace & love!:mushroom2:

Because they are addicted.  Im heavily addicted, when I go sober its tough for the first days.  But its not a monster to fight like many other addictions out there.  Reading is my anti-drug.

You believe you're addicted? If I may ask, how long have you been smoking for?

My relationship with weed is a love/hate, I started smoking it to assist me in getting over this girl I loved...I got over her & realized I loved weed, lol, but its good to have a break once in awhile. I can see myself being a lifer with weed, its too great and natural to stop completely.

i just quit weed (well, an extended break) last week, and man for the first 4 days or so, sleeping was hell. I couldn't fall asleep, would wake up many times throughout the night, just generally wasn't able to get any rest.

It seems as if that's over now and my body's adjusted

thats interesting. I have read that many people experience sleeping problems when quitting but I've slept just fine the last few nights, if anything I've slept heavier than usual.

on a side note, I REALLY don't believe he quit for 30 days prior to the 30 day binge smoking. thoughts???

Hmm, I guess it's completely different for everyone.  I went from smoking a few times a day for a year to having to stop cold turkey for two weeks and I had absolutely no problems at all, not even a craving.  Sure I missed it, but that's about it.

I think the real trick is to smoke, but not too much. I personally notice little difference between my stoner self and my sober self, but then again I rarely take more than a couple tokes off a pipe in any given session. Another advantage to this is you keep your tolerance low and find much smaller amounts equally satisfying.

For sure. I recently bought a vaporizer and found that the less I smoke, the less I have to smoke to get high..its nice.

also, jair, thats a good way to put it..I miss it but thats about it as far as the negative side goes. and its hardly a negative.
Sometimes its good to take a break from things that we like so that when we do them again, we like them even more.

I smoked about an ounce a week mostly by myself until last week.  Trying to take a break myself, though I've smoked at lesat once daily but I'm doing way better than I thought.  My withdrawls have been lack of appetite and difficulty sleeping.  I've also had some intense dreams over the last week.  The best part is I actually remember them after waking up which is in stark contrast to the last 3 years where I've pretty much been high 24/7 and never seemed to have any recollection of my dreams.

I've never been a daily smoker for longer then like a week at a time, but I have experienced weed withdrawal.  It only happens after I have smoked more then usual (like if I have a very good weekend or go to a music festival).  It consists of me getting annoyed much easier and not being able to sleep very well.  Overall I find it very bearable, but I still try to avoid it.

Less is more with weed.

It was sweet..then I woke up and shortly after I realized that I didn't have all that money..lol it was a cool dream though!

thats not too bad..theres nothing wrong with that unless you are unhappy with it!

Its hard to think that extended weed use can be anything but bad, since society puts such a negative connotation with stoners..but i like to say fuck that. Hopefully one day we'll live in a world that is OK with it.

As someone who is into Lucid Dreaming, and will have them naturally quite often, I am left with a choice: have a chance at virtual reality in my dreams at night, or get baked during the day. These days I am starting to lean towards the former, as getting baked seems to bring more and more anxiety.

I get the most fucked dreams EVER when I stop vaping, even for one day.

Before I started smoking in my teenage years, I had insane lucid dream abilities, multiple hours, 5-6+ dreams per night all lucid. Perfect recall (had literally 10,000 pages of descript journal), perfect dream control... it was a very deep world, it was my whole life pretty much.

Didn't vape yesterday (Sat), last night was insane, I don't know if I can handle dreaming anymore, its like 10 movies every night... there's a porno, there's a comedy, there's a music dream, I get killed a few times, I kill a few people, people from my childhood start popping up, suddenly I'm back in school, then I'm in another country at 50 years old, WTF.

I get no god damn rest.

we're at the lake and my sisters new boyfriend offered to buy us alcohol, and ive had captain morgan a few times mixed with coke and its great. I have a really weak stomach so usually my limit is a couple beers, Ive only been really drunk maybe 5 times in my life..
but this captain morgan tastes great and i can stomach it as long as its heavily mixed with a soda beverage. Im kinda glad my stomach is such a bitch because im never gonna be able to become an alcoholic, so the rare times I do drink its always fun.

Cannabidiol Prevents Cerebral Infarction(A.K.A. Stroke) Via a Serotonergic 5-Hydroxytryptamine1A Receptor–Dependent Mechanism

Background and Purpose— Cannabidiol has been reported to be a neuroprotectant, but the neuroprotective mechanism of cannabidiol remains unclear. We studied the neuroprotective mechanism of cannabidiol in 4-hour middle cerebral artery (MCA) occlusion mice.

Methods— Male MCA occluded mice were treated with cannabidiol, abnormal cannabidiol, anandamide, methanandamide, cannabidiol plus capsazepine, and cannabidiol plus WAY100135 before and 3 hours after MCA occlusion. The infarct size was determined after 24 hours (2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride staining). Cerebral blood flow (CBF) was measured at, before and 1, 2, 3, and 4 hours after MCA occlusion.

Results— Cannabidiol significantly reduced the infarct volume induced by MCA occlusion in a bell-shaped curve. Similarly, abnormal cannabidiol but not anandamide or methanandamide reduced the infarct volume. Moreover, the neuroprotective effect of cannabidiol was inhibited by WAY100135, a serotonin 5-hydroxytriptamine1A (5-HT1A) receptor antagonist but not capsazepine a vanilloid receptor antagonist. Cannabidiol increased CBF to the cortex, and the CBF was partly inhibited by WAY100135 in mice subjected to MCA occlusion.

Conclusions— Cannabidiol and abnormal cannabidiol reduced the infarct volume. Furthermore, the neuroprotective effect of cannabidiol was inhibited by WAY100135 but not capsazepine, and the CBF increased by cannabidiol was partially reversed by WAY100135. These results suggested that the neuroprotective effect of cannabidiol may be related to the increase in CBF through the serotonergic 5-HT1A receptor.

Don't drink. Seriously, there is not a single good reason to replace weed with liquor that doesn't involve legal bullshit taking precedent over personal well-being. I'm a hypocrite because I drink two beers a night, which I think is reasonable, but I've had a few episodes of pretty hardcore binge drinking and that shit will destroy you in no time flat. You'll act like a moron and do plenty of things you'll regret (IF you remember them), your body will go to waste, and when you finally stop you will wonder what the point of living ever was for several days at least. It's not a drug, it's straight-up poison, and every time I slip back into its trap I wonder more why it's tolerated while virtually every illegal drug is so much less fucking catastrophic to a body's general well-being and a truly God-given medicine like marijuana is so demonized. Live and learn, huh?

Guess I got kinda serious and preachy there for a sec, but really, I think it should be well-understood that replacing a weed habit with a liquor habit will bite you in the ass worse than you can imagine.

IMO, I have never really noticed any withdrawal symptoms. On occasion I'll take a tolerance break, or stop so I can save some extra cash. The first night is sometimes hard to go to sleep, but I'm an insomniac anyways, so I'm not really sure which one that is. But I agree with the people who talk of the dreams. Mine are never really bizarre or lucid when I stop, but I do remember them, something I won't do if I have smoked any during the day.

Not much of a drinker here, either. Me and alcohol just don't get along well. I've concluded that I don't really even like being drunk. Plus I don't like to pay for it the next morning.

Weed is great to me. I could also see myself being a lifer.

Haha, this post reminds me of the Simpson's marijuana episode where Homer quits smoking pot.

Homer: "It's been three days.  My sperm count is up AND I can recognize simple shapes and patterns."
Lisa: "Dad... you just said that five minutes ago."

I'm very glad that you underscored marijuana's affects on the short term memory.  A lot of people here smoke daily or more, and never seem to have any mention of short term memory problems.  It makes me wonder if cannabis affects some significantly more than others in that department.  When I smoked, my short term memory was way worse.

Not only that, but it was SO much more difficult to follow a linear train of thought, have a good attention span, and remember what you were thinking about.  This you also mentioned.

And those reasons, and the head cloudiness, are the reasons I really don't like getting 'high' anymore.  It's just an occasional indulgence... particularly when I'm drunk.

I was sitting there with my buddy after we had smoked and I was thinking, I said "hmm I feel kinda funny..a little different..oh yea, i'm BLAZED!!" it was a good time.

Well doesn't that just kind of suck. You get depressed when you stop smoking weed? Why start in the first place. It's such an unfortunate path. I started smoking weed daily when I was 14, then I did shrooms a couple times when I was 15.

Absolutely.  I hate it when people get smoke weed and are so desperate that they resort to smoking joints.  I usually yell at them, and try to get them to smoke out of a can instead.  Hey, it may not be classy, but it's a better use of marijuana.

i am not gonna read the whole thread, but...

i just had a reason to not smoke, couldnt, and theres no withdrawal, the only negative was that I couldnt i guess.

its like anything, too much gets boring, and breaks are great cause you get more high when you do.

i also had some but couldnt get at it, and it wasnt that important. its really not addicting.

i read an article today about literally exercising the "willpower" part of you brain makes your brain stronger, yada yada, reaffirming my "keep thinking and enriching your mind."

weed is part of that for me, at the same time, its just a passtime, and i find nowadays i only like to relax when high, rather than doing stuff.

Haha very anti joints here.

That's all people smoke here.

Most mix tobacco in too.

Pipes are too hot and harsh on the throat, bongs are impractical and can be hot on the throat.

Joints are so smooth on the throat, much nicer than any other method. Haven't tried vapourizers but the idea doesn't really appeal to me.

Why so against them? A joint with .2/.3g mixed with tobacco would keep me good for hours

I like a joint from time to time, but I won't smoke the whole thing at once.

Joints are great for traveling....fishing, camping, concerts etc.....
or when there are more than two or three people.

Smoking out of a can is a last ditch effort

I try to use a different way of smoking all the time as I seem to get different buzzes from the different incineration methods.

1.  Joint
2.  Water bong
3.  Spots (hot knives)
4.  Pipe
5.  Buckie

But I will mix them up all the time, buckie gets me baked for hours, joint comes on nice and smooth and is way more of a body-stone, water bong is so smooth so nice if I'm at home and don't want to get wasted, pipe is convenient and spots will kick your ass but are the most economical way to smoke.

Also, if I am smoking anywhere away from home, I will only ever pre-roll a joint so that if I was to get busted (worst case scenario) I would have hopefully smoked all the evidence, or just have a single joint and couldn't get done for utensils etc.

At least somebody agrees with me.  Can > joint.  Making a can pipe makes you feel crafty, and if you do it correctly, you won't have a device that wastes marijuana.  Yeah, smoking on aluminum is pretty crappy, but I really don't like joints... particularly when the get get small.

Of course, I'd greatly prefer glass piece or gravity bong over either of them.  Perhaps I've never had a good joint, as it seems people angrily disagree with me.  Just my opinion to prefer can over joint with my own experience.  Maybe you guys should roll me a fantabulous joint and change my opinion.

I mean glass pipes can hardly get me high at all, and I just don't see a can pipe doing the trick for me. Plus smoking aluminum is bad for u.

bong all the way..

and there are 2 types of gravity bongs..

the one with the bucket

and the one where u fill a bottle of water and poke a hole to let it leak out out while ur lighting the herb.

I like to call the one with the bucket "The Gravity Bong" cuz it's superior.. but the other gravity bong is cool to do when ur bored.

"Aluminum foil is very pure- in fact it is 99.9% pure, with the .1% being various residues from the manufacturing process that are burned off at low temperature and other impurities found within the material."

"Most brands of aluminum foil (Renoyld’s Wrap with the anti-stick coating and similar brands being the exception), are untreated and remain 99.9% aluminum (again with the .1% being residues and other agents in the manufacturing process)

In order to inhale aluminum it would have to be changed from a solid to a vapor. This requires a lot of heat. More heat than what it produced by a butane lighter. A butane lighter is not even capable of melting aluminum, if a lighter fails to melt the aluminum, it will not be able to change the aluminum into a vapor."

cmon boys stop being cheap go buy some thick glass.

ever smoke out of alluminum for a long time? it starts to get the most foul metal taste. and for me a joint to  is the best way to get the flavor, with the exception of any glass of vaporizer that has never been used.

on the topic of pot dependancy. im a combination smoker(pot/tobacco). the fact of the matter is i need a vice of some kind and when i try to stop smoking pot i drink(not large quantities but regularily) when i dont smoke(did 4 days as a test) i just smoked alot of pot.

so from my perspective it would be easier for me to go through quitting nicotine because i have pot to fall back on.

Had a terrible mushroom trip a good while back, since then i cant comfortably do caffeine, i dno what happened but im the most caffeine sensitive person i know, ill feel buzzed then crash from a sip of pop. its been hard avoiding such good tasting drinks. do you know theres no non caffeinated cola... its driving me crazy, even tea or decaf coffee is too much.

apple>aluminum

Aluminium doesn't come pre sprayed with pesticides.

Neither do organic fruits

plenty of low to mid grade weed does, depending on ferts and/or cheap methods for getting rid of pest problems, thus they spray petsicides..

anyway, couldn't find any facts about aluminum being bad to smoke, seems like it's not,

i remember maybe like 7 years ago, ppl were saying it caused alzheimers, so i figured it was true, but it turns out it's not.

so go ahead, smoke out of aluminum, there doesn't seem to be an repercussions, although i don't know how pure soda cans are, with the logos on them and what not.

Chemical compounds used in the internal coating of the can include: "uncross-linked epichlorohydrin-bisphenol type epoxy resin," "epichlorohydrin-bisphenol type epoxy resin cross-linked with a urea-formaldehyde resin," "epichlorohydrin-bisphenol type epoxy resin cross-linked with a vinyl resin," "vinyl organosols, solution vinyls, vinyl phenolics and epoxy phenolics."[12]

urea-formaldehyde releases at 70-90 degree F.

got that from wikipedia.

so ur smoking a lot of shit that nobody knows what the hell does to ur body, because normal ppl don't smoke aluminum soda cans.

so i guess, go with aluminum foil if u wanna use that as a screen.. me ill stick with glass.

Where do you live? Everyone uses tobacco with their weed down here, but I've heard that's mainly an Australian/UK thing. I can't wait for my Volcano to arrive, I have a feeling that will be my new favourite smoking device.

naw mixing seems really regional, here in ontario( canada) it varies from city to city group to group.

people use it everywhere to stretch weed, alot of people here wont smoke one without the other

But who knows what it IS sprayed with?

"Aluminum foil is very pure- in fact it is 99.9% pure, with the .1% being various residues from the manufacturing process that are burned off at low temperature and other impurities found within the material."

"Most brands of aluminum foil (Renoylds Wrap with the anti-stick coating and similar brands being the exception), are untreated and remain 99.9% aluminum (again with the .1% being residues and other agents in the manufacturing process)

Taken from this site.

Yeah, I read that one, and that describes aluminum foil.  Aluminum cans are obviously very different, and would have additional chemicals on them (especially in the labels).

Who cares if it's toxic or nontoxic to smoke out of a tin can? Not only will your bud taste janky, but it just looks fucking trashy. Joints preserve flavor and maintain some level of dignity.

really, smoking out of a can is fun once but it really seems like garbage when you can just use a glass piece..

Yeah, I've only done it twice.  Once because I was at a park with nothing else, and another time because we were wasted with nothing else.

But think about this- you can completely bypass all that lung-damaging smoke if you just begin to try injecting the marijuana drug. :syringe::sun::syringe:

Agreed.

Crack heads use cans because crack tastes more than janky already.

roll up roll up.

On the subject of the topic yeah weed withdrawal is weird, probably because we don't smoke weed anymore, we smoke what gets us most stoned and i can definitely tell by my mind state after smoking hash for a month the difference between how i feel when i don't have/want weed than when I've been smoking skunk all month.

Pot smoker for oh, fifteen years or so.  Had to get clean to pass a whiz quiz.  Clean for two months now.  Spending way more on Guiness & Absolut than I ever did on weed.  Which sucks because one or two beers after dinner ain't as good as a bong toke by a long shot.

The only upside is not having to look for it.  Why can't pot dealers be more reliable?  Sheesh!

Seriously thinking of moving to a state where you can just go to a store and buy it, and not have to spend an evening with some guy whose house smells like dog pee.

this sounds good but is it even possible?
I would rather just eat it.
actually, no, I would rather vaporize it.

Agreed.

I've run out of bud and havn't been able to get any more, resorted to having little dots of hash at night (usually a Friday night thing - hash) and it's been getting me completely off my rocker each night rather than chilling me out, head is a clouded mess after this week.

Daily multi-joint toker since 2000 here.

Yes if you stop suddenly is sucks for a bit, but then sobriety is the new high for like a week or two until boredom, contempt for society, and generalized "fuck-this" attitude kicks in and then I'm back to it :tongue2:

I've been smoking some BOMB fucking hash this past week, the kind that has the general consistency of silly putty, bubbles when you hit it right, and has you practically tripping after a few good tokes. Tearing into some of it as I type. Good hash is no substitute for good bud, but good bud is no substitute for good hash. :sun:

I take breaks now and then to keep a tolerance low, and I have no problem doing it! I love weed. It keeps me mellow and focused, it stabilizes my emotions which can be a little erratic sometimes.
