Little advice for a newbie please...
1st pic:
I presume this is what is meant as "the breaking of the veil," right? Is this shroom ready to be picked?
If i can't start drying until tomorrow, how should i store it until then?
2nd pic:
This mushroom was pinning before i dunked the cake, i didn't remove it for the dunk (obviously) and it grew into this...notice the bluish fuzz on the cap....is that a contam? Should i cut and trash the shroom, or even the whole cake? The rest of the cake looks fine, it even has another shroom growing on it that is doing fine.
3rd pic:
Seeing as i already scraped this cake, i guess it doesn't make a lot of difference...but any idea of what happened here? The fuzz on the top is a bit green. The cake looked a little dried out from the get go, and when fuzz (and then green fuzz) started growing on the vermiculite on top, i trashed it.

The first question is right and is ready but why can't you start drying till tomorrow? just set it out on some paper towels and put a light warm breeze on it. You got me on the comtam part, it looks like one to me. Did it smell like the others? You should have busted it up before you tossed it.

Another question...any recommendations for keeping contams out of my grow chamber? I've just been spraying natural spring water in there and airing it out once a day, but nothing special for contams. I've been using this anti-bacterial windex to clean up stuff so far....think it's okay to spray it into my terrarium?
It's 3.5% isopropyl alcohol, 0.25% Propylene Glycol, and 96.25% Inert Ingredients. Will this help keep out contams? Or could it cause other problems (like somehow get in the growing mushrooms or something)?

Lysol is your best friend, I spray it whenever I open my terrarium. You can also be sure that you are clean when around your cakes, if you have to reach in there, make sure your hands and arms are clean (I like to wipe with an alcohol soaked paper towel.)

I believe Propylene Glycol is a carcinogen you must not get that on your shrooms if you are going to eat them.

No need to use Lysol. Completely unnecessary. A spray bottle with one part H2O to five parts water is what I use. Some say a ratio of 1:8 is all that's needed, but 1:5 has worked for me. No contaminated casings ever. Just spray the casing/cakes once a day or whenever you open your terrarium. H20 is cheaper than Lysol too.

I use H2O2 straight out of the bottle @ 3%. No effects other than less contams. Its still not 100% though. I'm thinking about trying this bleach tek hippie3 wrote about recently.

The proplyene was never sprayed at the shroomies, it was only used to clean the things around the shrooms. Should be okay, right? I'll pick up some lysol. Thanks for the help.
