Are you breathing in & out or does it happen by itself?
Do 'you' beat your heart?
The whole idea we are 'doers' of our lives is where lots of neurosis comes in, we feel we constantly have to be doing something, i can't think of anything more neurotic then constantly having to be onto a job in some way...
Focusing on breath is good, but ive found the highest breath meditation is simply watching it, not forcing or controlling it in any way, pranayama exercises can be great purifiers & give nice ruches of well being, but i still feel that just observing is the most beneficial in any situation, as the less intent you have the more you've 'let go' & the more we let go the more relaxed we are about the inner mechanics of our being

I meditate because I am not satisfied with being I. Something tells I there is more to me than I, and that I must search for I.

Something tells you? Really? Now what do you think that might be pray tell?

The I your are not satisfied with is not you, a deeper I lies beyond as your real Self, otherwise you would not even notice this dissatisfying I
In the past you might have been so identified with this I that you didn't even notice it, you just assumed its you & never questioned it, but now you do notice it, how long can it survive if we simply notice that its not really serving our Truth?
If we see something is dissatisfactory, how many times will it bite us before we stop dipping our finger into it?

As many times as it takes for us to realize it is not biting us at all

The crazy face was because it reminded me of the answer to "how much wood can a woodchuck chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood"
kinda loopy...

A great text on meditation, which has been quoted already in this topic:
http://www.hermetic.com/crowley/aba/aba1.html
"THE problem before us may be stated thus simply. A man wishes to control his mind, to be able to think one chosen thought for as long as he will without interruption."
