LC in syringe?

Think it would be a good idea to just put some honey/water in a syringe then pc or boil and when cool suck up some spores? or would it be a bad idea cuz of clumping and stuff?

Clumping is fine. Spores like to be in close proximity ... just like a dude with a gal.

You can do something like that, but I'd just start a LC in a jar and make yourself some spore syringes. You'll only need a tiny amount of spores to start up some LCs. Make multiple LCs ... redundancy is a good key to success. If most fail then at least one works.

I've tried a couple of the "easier" LC teks found around this forum but none of them worked.  I'm not saying they are complete crap teks, because they've obviously worked before, and I'm sure eventually I could have gotten one this way, but...

This time I'm going for a grain LC.  This way, as long as I have a WBS jar that's good to go, then I'll KNOW I have a working LC.

Only if they are big. In a 10ml syringe or my 28ml culture vials i dont provide GE and they are bad boy

can be done ive tried but i put a chip of glass to act as an agitator

Not to be hating, but there are easier ways to get better results.  In less time you can have 50 syringes worth of LC.

But any good tek is never a bad idea..  :wink:

There is a hole in the needle.. that's enough GE.
Syringes are the easiest way to start an LC.  I do it a little different than what you are saying though.  Make your LC like normal then use a spore syringe that has less than 1cc left and suck up some Karo water(or whatever you use for LC).  This gives great results and if you want to make a larger LC just shoot some of your LC in a larger LC jar.

I think I will do a write-up on this, seems like a good idea maybe. You think I can sterlize the honey water in the syringe by boiling or pc'ing?

You should really try karo over honey. IME karo pc'ed for 20mins at 5psi come out looking like water. Works great if you have a pc with multiple pressure levels like my old school miromatic. Plus with honey the myc gets too thick which I think is a bad thing. With Karo its like the myc just gets enough nutes to survive but not much else. Then when you inject it in a jar the myc just explodes to life with all the ge and good nutes it now has access too. Honey leaves the myc too happy and weaker strains can thrive as well.

I think I will make a pictorial next time I make an LC. Seems alot of shroomerites fail at LC because they make it too hard.

you dont need gas exchange with a LC as long as you dont fill the jar over 2/3, I prefer half way. When you shake it up the oxygen in the air trapped in your jar will dissolve into the water. I have had LCs last 3 weeks plus in an airtight PP plastic container.

raw sugar has been done successfully white is no good. what ever sugar source you choose use a 1 to 25 ratio.

Edit: Karo is just light corn syrup and yes vanilla added is fine and walmart brand works just as well.

It won't.

I have the exact opposite philosophy as Arcane does upthread, I think honey is better, for the same reasons he says karo is better. Honey is richer and more diverse, karo is just barely anything at all. But I know we both agree that either of those is better than white sugar, and probably better than raw sugar.
(You could maybe use piloncillo if you have it. If you don't, don't bother, get honey.)

lol no I put a cap on it.....I just forgot to boil the syringe with the cap on it. I just used some alcohol for the inside of the cap haha.
