Shrooming Mckenna style

Hello all,

I figure there are people out there with enough experience in these realms to describe what it has been like (at least for them) when taking somewhere around 5 grams of mushrooms (or something like 60 grams when fresh) in complete darkness and silence, as suggested by the late and great Terence Mckenna.  Someday, probably not anytime remotely soon, I hope to be ready for such a journey myself.  But for now I'm just curious - how common is interaction with other forms of life - such as extraterrestrial creatures and godlike entities, on these mental voyages?  How profound or life-changing are these experiences?  Does anyone take this amount and not find themselves swept away to the strange and foreign outer edges of consciousness? 

A special thanks and great respect to all those who have ventured to such regions.  I'm excited to learn anything I can from you.

I gave it a go and was too intense for my liking. I think I need to get better at meditation or something. It was too intense too fast. I didn't understand.

i have many of these under my belt.....

they always go outta body .....i have come into contact with entities....u sometimes have epiphanies that are very profound



sometimes on more potent shrooms u can have a very nasty ego death senario filled with paranoia that can be very rough


its like a box of chocolates u never know what yer gonna get:tongue:

While I have a bit of experience here and there with other psychedelics, I've only taken shrooms five times - once on a bit over a gram, three times between 2 and 2.5 grams, and once on 3 grams.  In my view, I've handled these experiences very well, even if the going got a bit rough, but I also know how unimaginably different 5 grams is from say 2 or 3.

u know i noticed something so trivial last night....if you are tripping with people or alone but watching tv or distraction yourself u will miss the DMT like state that is subtely calling......i can be fawked up....but once the lights go off and and all distractions are gone i will drift off into the out of body,trance like DMT sorta state

but u will not get there if there all sorts of other things going on....at least i wont

this is definitely true...I noticed this with exceptional clarity the first time I did LSD...it also made me understand why so many lives haven't been changed more despite lots of LSD use (or psychedelics in general)

When I did my McKenna with 5 dried g Penis Envy, I put in earplugs and went into my storage room - tiny with no windows

I made contact with a lot of intelligences, heard voices, saw visions and became very distant from my body. I had no visuals though

2 hrs in I felt like I was losing it so I burst out and then the visuals exploded

I had a full-on ego death breakdown which was me sobbing for 2 more hours, followed by sudden enlightenment and absolute bliss. Then I laughed for a solid hour

It was very challenging. I'd say it's a once-a-year thing for me.

4-5 grams in a normal setting is alright for me, but in sensory dep. conditions it is very strange indeed

I was kind of a wreck for a little while afterwards, crying a lot, really needing to be around people. It changes a person in certain ways. I do it seldom and go hard when I do

Come to think of it, as a 25 yr old male I cry way more now than before I started tripping hard

Lots of recovery time and balance is needed because you're walking a fine line when you shock the psyche and personality like that

This is tough for me to talk about because I don't want to sound like I'm a proponent of the experience even though I may in fact be. I vividly remember much of a 5g experience. I had partaken of a mushroom tea mixed with some high quality chai tea.
I turned on Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here album. Within probably ten or so minutes (maybe a few more than that) all I could hear (for hours) was the first long note held at the intro of Shine on You Crazy Diamond. So that part was cool.
I ended up lying on my back, still with this note playing eternally, on my restroom floor. I opened my eyes and saw vision-like appearances of a wide variety of fucking symbols of all things. All of it without meaning to me. Simultaneously, there was the sound of an intense wind repeatedly hitting the top of the ceiling - closer to the roof. It was as if the wind was trying to break through the building's top and there was an ongoing fight.
Eventually I had a different type of visionary experience in which I was seeing thoughts in my mind more visually - like a film kind of. I won't be too specific but I saw that God was trying to live freely within Me. I struggled with that for some reason.
I also had audio related phenomenon occur in which I literally heard a peaceful voice utter the same words over and over again. It had to do with identity.

That's was about the jist of it.

That's what I ended up doing it when I tried it. It was just recently, but I just couldn't stick it out. It was too strange and foreign to me...

I didn't have a bad trip or anything, but I just couldn't handle the sensory deprivation and the intense amount of visions and telepathic communication with otherdimensional beings (if that's what they were and not just parts of my own mind.).




I'm definately gonna try it again though. Probably in the next couple/few months.

At some point I'd like to take a swim with this. If not for a full shroom trip, at least for a good hour or so.

Complete darkness and quiet on 4 or so grams with a couple of bowls on the side.

i've always said i wanna do the 5g dark room trip, but when it comes down to it, i pussy out...i'm always like, fuck that, alone with only my thoughts for 4+ hours is bad enough, let alone on a heady dose of mushrooms.  i know where i go when the lights are ON, and as of now, thats enough haha

i know one day, when i have nothing to do and no one is around, i'll dive head first into the pool of chaotic beauty....

lol the light in the bathroom is always the worst part,

everything illuminates and it's super overwhelming, i hate bathrooms.

Last time I tripped I switched out the bright ass bathroom light for a black light bulb. That made trips to the bathroom pretty interesting to say the least.

I have experienced many intense psychadellic voyages, mostly practicing shamanism during the trip. My most memorable trip was 7 grams dried homegrown cubensis. At one point of the voyage I had encountered a entity that had commited suicide in a past life (I am told things telepathically during trance). This being was pale grey and had no genitalia. When I peered into its eyes I saw not black, but nothing, there was almost no being in there. I then understood that because of its suicide it was put in a realm that it was stripped of all identity. I then let the being use my body as a tool to express emotion since it couldn't. I then cried for all the pain this being was experencing and let it continue walking in the dark, hoping to someday bump into another. It was depressing but helped me get through a very depressing time, and understood what suicide would have led me too.

I am very interested in doing this sometime in my life.

I'm looking to have a profound life changing spiritual trip and I have been practicing meditation just for it.

When I do it I will probably do a little bit of yoga followed by meditation followed by just laying down and getting raped by the universe.

I did app 4.5 g's in the lemon juice tek, then smoked a bunch of cannabis sativa, sat in my room with my lights off, and passed out because I was hallucinating so intensely for about an hour until i finally just burst out of my body, was greeted by insane unexplainable visions, woke up thinking that only an hour had passed since i ate the shrooms, and basically gave myself a massive mindfuck for the rest of the night.
It was amazing, and I would love to do it again, but maybe that's just me! Mindfucks are amazing and very educating

I am a proud advocate of the Heroic Dose.

Such doses provide one with a very profound experience. On such journeys, the mushrooms undoubtedly provide one with knowledge about life, death, and the here after. Often this involves visiting other planes of existence. Sometimes you may actually encounter other entitities.

I strongly encourage you to take part. But remember, such doses require courage...that's why McKenna dubbed it the Heroic Dose!

this thread makes me feel fuzzy, one of my favorite part of a high dose of mushrooms besides the total mindfuck and attack at your soul, is when your coming down

i don't know if its just me of what but when im coming down off heroic dose of mushrooms i feel so warm and :tee:

i dont htink being "proud" has anythign to do with tripping

i prefer large doses of pretty much everything

its jsut how i roll

but i dont like people who brag, or take pride in public displays of intoxication.


that said i do love to get fucked up, and like most, i like fun.


large doses hold large potential for big time sillyness and crazt adventures, but also catostrophic twisted weirdness.


i like to tred that line. its never about having a trip be go how you plan it. its about a trip going just as it goes.


i rarly eats cubes in quantities less than 5 grams

i also disagree with mckenna when he says anymore than 5 is just overboard and or not nessisary.

well the mushroom itself is not nessisary. and its nt about going over or under board. its about intention and apreciation.

to each there own
