Could someone please tell Art Smith he can't cook
    #10770914 - 07/30/09 08:48 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

I just watched the Top Chef Masters semi finals last night and was absolutely dumbfounded as to how on earth someone like Art Smith has even the slightest amount of recognition in the hospitality industry? Yes, I know he was Oprah's personal chef for ten years, but that only tells me she didn't really have as good of a taste for food as she probably does now (especially since he isn't her personal chef anymore) It's amazing what tasteless ignorance can yield.

He made this horrendous take on a scotch egg that was basically a big softball sized thing of raw ground lamb and an overcooked hardboiled egg. The thing looked disgusting (and the judges hammered him for it). The worst part was that he wasn't eliminated!! Jesus!

On another note, the next season of Top Chef has three competitors that I know personally or have worked with in the past. I'm not sure how I feel about successful chefs who decide to go on Top Chef, but I guess the exposure and money must be good.

I can already predict, that one of the chefs u know is Voltaggio...cuz i know one of them is prominant in DC

Michael Voltaggio worked at the Bazaar, and my buddy and I attended one of his cheese board tasting events.  good stuff.

Btw, how about that Anita Lo?

The dyke can cook.  Her crazy rendition of Hubert's dish was gutsey.

I was kind of dissappointed Suzanne Tracht was eliminated for such a dumb logistical mistake.  She beat one of the strongest qualifying fields to get into the finals.
