 Roger Fudd´s Cordyceps militaris frutification ( with pictures)

Finally, the strain of Cordyceps militaris from Roger Fudd produced some primordia , but not as much as shown on the Chinese site.
I tested the following method from the link indicated by Speeker :

The procedure was the following :
After the inoculation using liquid culture, the flasks were incubated in the dark at 25 ° C.
Then the flasks were put in the refrigerator at night (from 6:00 PM to 7:00 AM) .During the rest of the day, the flasks were placed inside a transparent plastic box with a transparent lid. This box was kept in a place with indirect solar lighting (aprox. 1000 to 2500 lux). This procedure (fluctuation of light and temperature ) lasted 1 week.
After that , the box was kept in that place all day long , receiving light during the day and kept in the dark at night, with a natural slight drop in the temperature. The temperatures ranged from approximately 18 to 25° C more or less.

Picture 01 - Liquid culture media ready for inoculation

Picture 3 - rice media before sterilization
Picture 4 - Substrate after incubation and before exposure to light
Picture 5 - Substrate after exposition to light. The white substrate is from Mushroompeople strain

I have used soy peptone but what would be the best type of peptone to use with Cordyceps ? Soy peptone or bacteriological peptone (from meat)? Can anyone tell me if there is some difference between these two types of peptone for using with Cordyceps cultivation ?
I have both at home , but it will be necessary to make some tests with the bacteriological peptone type.
Yesterday, more flasks with substrate made of silkworm pupa powder ,rice grains ,dextrose, yeast extract , vitamin B1 and soy peptone were inoculated with liquid culture.I´ll post some pictures if this test works well too.
I want to thank to Roger Fudd for sending me the culture and also thank to Speeker for his information.

Very cool man
I received that Strain from Faffle who sent an entire plate. I am waiting on the colonizing grain currently.
It's nice to see a post with someone making effective progress. Keep it up!
Oh and I'm not too sure about the Peptone. I will check out a couple cultivation books I have and see if they offer any good information.

Some more pictures taken today (46 days after inoculation)
Lux-meter for controlling or just for reading the light intensity
Plastic box used for testing. There is a small amount of water in the bottom of the box to keep humidity high. The metal lids of the glass jars have a circular disc (made of felt) placed under the lids that acts as a filter.

Yes, maybe, but it is too early yet. I need to make more tests before and I made only 12 flasks . It will be necessary to test other formulas also.

Did you use a stirrer plate for the LC or agitate it regularly ?
Also, does the LC get FAE at all, and if so, how please ?

That is simply stunning!
I am very interested in seeing the difference between the soy peptone and the bacteriological peptone.
The cordyceps are among my favorite organisms, natures little equalizers.

Fantastic grow. I spent a lot of time and silkworm pupae trying to fruit the mushroompeople strain with no success. Really great to see you succeed.

No, I did not use a shaker. I shake the vials manually only once or twice a day with no exchange of air. For a little air exchange, the metal lid of the bottle has a circular disc of felt underneath. I prepare the LC solution three or four days before the inoculation of the solid medium. After LC inoculation with a small agar wedge , the LC is incubated at 25 ° C in the dark. This time lag is enough for a good development of the mycelium in the LC. You must use the LC immediately or the mycelium will form clumps if an excess of growth occurs. The formula of the LC is the following:
Dextrose – 20 g
Soybean Peptone – 10 g
Yeast extract – 10 g
Distilled or Mineral Water – 1000 ml
Sterilization time – 20 minutes
For the inoculation of the solid media, I am using a stainless steel spoon, sterilized in the flame of the Bunsen burner. I also have a micropipette with 5 ml plastic tips made of PP, but it is necessary to autoclave the tips previously. If you're in a hurry, the stainless steel spoon is very good and practical for this purpose.

I am testing another different formula (now with silkworm pupa powder and other components ), but is still too early for any results. I am testing the both strains in this experiment.
