tyvek filter question

I'm on my third flash of my first grow ever and everything is going grate. (6 brf cakes 25 grams dry so far) tnx to all for the information.
I'm planing my second project and I'm going to go with rye. i can get my hands on some tyvek printing paper. will that be OK for my jars filter?

Tyvek is free at the post office. Go in there and pick up about 10 envelopes.

Bad advice right there.
It's a federal crime to use those envelopes for anything other than mailing things. Don't do it.

Of all the illegal activities discussed on this forum, postal tyvek seems the least likely thing to get you in PMITA prison.

Personally I don't like the texture of the envelopes, so I like to go the coverall route myself.  Nonetheless I'm curious.

ive been using one coffee filter and noticed my jars colonizing alot faster. also no contams using the right methods n glove box

Right. One additional count of mail fraud (or whatever, probably not that) per jar.
Plus, it's completely unnecessary, there's Tyvek everywhere.

Yeah ... I can dig the whole 'take precaution' thing, but where in the hell is it written that you cannot use the provided envelopes for anything other than its intended use? That I would really like to know. So if I make a paper airplane out of a tyvek envelope then I'm a criminal? Fuck that ... they can

I've never seen a sign posted anywhere stating that. Even if there IS a sign ... where is the law? A sign is not a law.

Kinda like the 'do not remove under the penalty of law' labels on mattresses only it actually states this on the label and ONLY pertains to resale … not personal use.

idk if the cops are in your  house at that  point i  think a  cut up envelope is the least of the worries  and who are they  to  say  that you didn't receive it in the mail making it your property

It says on the envelope. Also on the website, I think. But for sure on the envelope.

Why tempt fate?????

Go to the f'n paint store, and get some tyvek coveralls.
Go to construction sites, and ask them if they have any scrap tyvek.  Trust me, they do.
If you're planning on cultivating long term, go to ANY builder's supply, and buy a ROLL of tyvek, it's under $100 for a roll that you will NEVER run out of.

Don't guess as to what the penalties of using postal tyvek would be.  Anyone seen the movie "Murder In The First", with Kevin Bacon?  True story, and he was given a hefty sentence for stealing a loaf of bread from a store that was IN THE SAME BUILDING as a post office.

Plenty of places to get tyvek, don't fuck with the feds.
