if it existed, then yes, it should technically exist now because they would travel back here or whatever.. and it would exist. Time is an interesting concept though. If time stopped, we wouldn't know that it stopped. Time could have stopped every single time i press a key on my keyboard and just "turn back on" or whatever.. and we wouldn't even know itt. i wish i could manipulate this thing we call time. i would have so much fun.. i would easily win fights that way >.> jk anyway but seriously, it would be fun to manipulate time becuz i could technically do whatever i wanted.. i could wake up and 6:35, go pick shrooms b4 any1 else, go to cali, come back, and still be hours early=] i would never need to learn time management skills -.- i would be so freaking happy. anyway....

Sometimes I think the thermodynamic interpretation of time gets overlooked (the arrow of time). In that sense, a perpetual motion machine would be a time machine and experiments on steam engines imply it is forbidden!

so has the future already happened or are we leading into the future currently?
Also, if time travel does exist, unless you direct met a time traveler and saw the time traveling happen, there's no way you would know it happened..

i think that if time repeats itself over and over again then time travel could somehow be possible. maybe its impossible with the technology we have today but it was impossible 200 years ago to have a "magic box with images in it"

Actually, no...
According to most theoretical physicists, time-machines can only back in time to the time they were built. In other words, you could not travel in the past that's past the time you built your time-machine.
Of course, this isn't fact and time-machines are merely theoretical. But you do bring up a good point!
Picture this... What if UFO sightings, like the one below, are actually advanced floating time-machines, built by Humans from the future, and the reason they don't want to make "First Contact" is because they do not want to interfere with the natural time-line of history (expect for the whole sighting thing, maybe their cloaking device malfunctioned?).
Possible? Maybe. Probably? Likely not. Is it silly to ask then answer your own questions? I believe that it is...
Anyway, maybe time-machines can travel back in time, just no one in the future has figured out how to build one.
Also, to think that "somewhere", in another dimension, is 1,000 years from now, or 1,000,000 years in the future is a hard one to grasp. It seems to me that those time-periods are separate from our "current" time period, which I will call "Universe A", they will be "Universe 2".
So, to travel back in time is actually traveling thru different dimensions that are in different times.
All pretty interesting.
>>>>>>>> Since this is the Shroomery and we're talking about time-travel, do any of you guys believe that the time-dilation experience from psychedelics like weed, shrooms, LSD, etc. is "real" or just an hallucination?
Also, does anyone here like the contradiction in my favorite time-travel movie "Back to the Future"? Its genius right?

The faster you go relative to the speed of light, the slower you age. I mean we are all travelling time right now, 1 day into the future, every day. If time is relative, the yes, time is at a variable rate. Reading these phenomena would be dificult, because simply observing will effect the result.
An example. If I have two clocks. One on the ground, one at the top of empire state. After a number of years the clock in the tower will move slower, being more perceptible over more "time".
Right now, you are still relative to your monitor. You are not still though, our orbit path around the sun, relative to the sun, is some 16,000 miles a second. Our galaxy relative to the next galaxy, well I dont know, the point is, its all relative to your benchmark.
Absolute zero. At absolute zero, time stops, so slow a photon, relatively to the human observer stretches, existing in many places at once. Its called Boson state or something like that.
So why the long rant? Thinking about the physics of the universe is fucking awesome and easily understandable. Einsteins thought experiments should comprise the entire year of sixth grade. It teaches you to think.

Stephen Hawkingโs quote on time travel: "If time travel were possible, we'd be inundated with tourists from the future."
Michio Kaku addresses this in The Physics of the Impossible more or less concluding that time travel into the future is already happening in small doses as people travel at high speeds for a long time and that time travel into the past will involve two ports one for the past and one for the present so you can only go back to when the first port was invented and it ain't been yet. He also says a single electron may live in the past and the present at the same 'time'

Time travel could be possible because time is not linear.

the 7th dimension lost me... i thought they were completely separate infinites, not going from one infinite to another infinite... so lost. Which dimension do I want to be in?

Who's to say that we aren't in the most furthest part of the future to date?
-------------------- Dr says to stop trying to treat the side-effects of big government and focus on the core issues. End the Federal Reserve/audit the gold reserves at Fort Knox, abolish the IRS, end all wars and occupancies, stop the building of an empire that will inevitably fail, and cut all unconstitutional federal programs. Put the power back in the peoples' hands by ending this nanny-state.

That video is just one musicians opinion, its not mathematically or scientifically supported.
I think this discussion would benefit with a care description of what time is!
