First coir grow - *Harvest Pics 7/28*

After harvesting my first pf flush this weekend, I decided to give bulk a try. I built a monotub out of a 58 quart polypropylene tub (12"H x 16"W x 24"D) but instead of drilling large holes and using polyfil I drilled 3/8" holes in groups of three and covered with micropore tape. I mixed 3 crumbled cakes with 1 brick of coir, then crumbled 1 more cake on top. Also instead of using a trash bag I cut some panda film to length.
Before adding spawn After adding spawn and mixing After crumbling another cake on top 48 hours later

Don't lay any spawn on top of a substrate to be colonized, you're increasing the risk of the spawn drying out. And it's not a help in preventing contamination. But, I hope your project goes well. Give us an update later. How deep is the substrate? ~Pixie~

The sub is approximately 3.5" deep. I actually did mix the last crumbled cake in to the sub, but tried to expose as much spawn as possible on top. Bad wording on my part there.

lookin strong. I'd let it go a bit longer, maybe 3 or 4 more days. I like to let my subs sit until I start seeing knots form, then introduce them to light and fae. that's like a tell-tale sign that the myc is established and ready to fruit.
Keep doing things the way you are and you should be blessed soon.

wow that sure looks the same as it did a week ago?
I think your suppose to layer your spawn and end with a layer of substrate up top....

My first bulk fruits!
This was multi-spore koh samui, straight coir with no casing.

And finally, My first bulk harvest!
I will post the dry weight later if anyone is interested. Big thanks to the shroomery and all the members! A few months ago I never thought this would be possible, but the abundance of information available here made it so. All I can think about now is improving my mycology skills and techniques, then giving back as so many of you have.

Nice man! Especially for straight core... I still think your sub looks not quite colonized (obviously it is). Maybe it it is just the light, it looks like you have a casing layer...
