Tis a sad day indeed

I've reached the end of my first flush ever on BRF cakes. I was cleaning the aborts off in preparation for the dunk and found a tiny half pea sized dot of green on cake number 8... now there are only 7

it happens, just be sure it is actually mould and not bruising.
I had to throw out about 3 or 4 cakes after coming back from a festival. They got cobweb, which i was expecting since the 2 litre soda bottles aint the greatest for FAE

You get a connection with those mushrooms...

Yeah, I'm sure it was trich... stark green contrast to the bluing that I've become accustomed to.
I also found a tiny dot of cobweb on one of the aborts, but I think I killed it off with some peroxide, I'm hoping I caught it early enough. It was very small.
Anyway, the other 7 are now in the dunk for a hopeful 2nd flush.

You only lost one cake. Not very sad.
now if you lost all 8 cakes to contam once in the fruiting chamber after full colonization. now THAT WOULD BE SAD.
grats on your first flush

It wasn't very grats-worthy actually, I had some issues with FAE... I believe my perlite was packed in too tight, only ended up with 12 grams dry out of those 8 cakes... all the mushies were hollow and none got above 2 inches in height.

bruising ranges from green through to blue. Ive had cakes that bruised a distusting green colour that was was a little decieving.
mould will look like sand ontop of the mycelium.
Good FAE will prevent contams, ive never seen cobweb on my cakes apart from when i left them for 6 days when i was at a festival.

Like I said these are in the dunk for flush 2... I'll be camping this weekend though, so they'll be all alone for 3 days, I hope it doesn't fuck them up too bad.
And this was bright green... I'd rather be safe than sorry, it's in the trash as we speak.

I live in an apartment, can't go around burying stuff without calling attention to myself unfortunately lol. I'd love to have a compost heap though.
Or are you referring to giving them a decent burial?

No, more like "set them free and wish them luck". But yeah, that's less likely in an apartment.

Every cake dies eventually.
I hope you've made some prints of your fruits.
Any first grow that gives you enough magic for a good trip is a success.
