Questions about MEA and peroxide...

In TMC H2O2 is not talked about in connection with Agar. I know that the H2O2 would kill the spores but not live tissue.
Is there some reason why they recommend getting pure strains on just plain old MEA rather than MEA w/h2o2?
Since my monkey is new at MEA he thinks he sees MEA w/out h2o2 grows faster but is obviously a contam waiting to happen. Am I seeing this right? Does straight MEA grow faster than MEA w/h202?
If I got this all messed up then why does TMC not talk about h2o2 MEA?

A pure strain has no need for the protection of H202. TMC assumes that asceptic technique is followed durring agar work. The isolation of a pure strain from a contaminated print would be easier with the use of H2O2. I believe the book calls for other methods such as the use of antibiotics to rid a culture of bacteria. Otherwise, isolates from mold contaminated cultures are fairly easy to get if you follow proper technique.
When growing out two cultures, one w/ H202 and one w/o, I would expect initial growth on the H2O2 to lag while catalases and peroxidases are upregulated. Some species do not do well on peroxidated agar, this may be the reason it is not mentioned in TMC.

The reason is that at the time TMC was published(1983) the use of peroxide in mushroom cultivation hasn?t been "invented" yet.
More than 10 years later Rush Wayne published his manuals.

I thought about that, but was unaware of when Wayne's work was published.
