Helo all.

Hello all, new user to the forum here. I registered last night, and look forward to
interacting with you all.
I've started my first "effort." The jars were inoculated 11-18-02, using the BRF tec, and the strain Tapalpa.
I've been looking around here for a few weeks trying to get the everything down pat before trying anything.
I checked my jars last night, (almost 3 days after inoculation) and saw no signs of growth. No green mold, or white fuzz, nothing.
The grow chamber is kept at 80 degrees F. using an aquarium heater in a bottle of water inside the grow chamber. I'm not sure what the RH is, but I know it's very high.
Everything I've seen about Tapalpa says its very fast, "Fully colonized jars in four or five days, ect, ect." So I'm starting to think I might have a problem.

So what I would like to know is, do any of you growers out there see any flaws in the setup so far? Is 3 days too soon to be worried about no growth?

Yep, wait another 3 or 4 days at *least* before worrying.

Hello and welcome to the Shroomery.

Patience is golden, wait at least another week, I'd say.

LEt me tell you something:

Anything under 10 days is extraordinary, 14 days to 3 weeks is normal.

Everything I've seen about Tapalpa says its very fast, "Fully colonized jars in four or five days, ect, ect." So I'm starting to think I might have a problem".

-------Nothing colonizes THAT quickly (as far as I know); you're lucky if spots appear that fast. I take it this set up is in a controlled environment (the grow chamber), the temp sounds ok, could be maybe a couple degrees higher but that's cool, and I don't think rH is a big concern during the colonization period (someone correct me here if necessary), just more so the temp when you're going the jar route. My question would be regarding cleanliness practices during innoculation, that's very key (oven tek maybe, ample Lysol, stuff like that).

I once had some quart jars of rye grain fully colonize in like 5 or 6 days after a multispore inoculation, but that has only happened once. Most of the time I don't see any growth for at least three days, but it usually takes a little closer to 4 or 5 days for me.

I have fucked up a few cultivation efforts due to my lack of patience. I'm sure many other have as well. Remember that next time you think the mycelium has died or won't grow.

At first I had told myself that I wouldn't even check on the jars for about a week or
two. After I had read all the messages about how fast this strain (Tapalpa) was, I guess I had a momentary laps of reason. So I'll just leave them be for now, cool.

About the neatness of my efforts. I used lots of Lysol, and Isopropyl alcohol. There were two points that may cause trouble. I had never ran across the "oven tek" until my syringe was made, and then my needle, (1/2in. 20g.) was too short to reach the top of the water line in my jar of spore water. Both times I had to expose the
purified water in the jar to the air w/o the use of an oven, just a little Lysol, and isopropyl alcohol. I hope that wont be a problem. BTW can anybody out there offer me a link to a good glovebox design or something? I've looked but I haven't found anything other than the oven tek for open air exposure.

All in all, if I have screwed up, I have a backup print to try again. I'll give it a few more weeks.

Thanks for the replies all !
