Questions about optimum yields using PF CAKES

Hi first of all i would just like to thank the creaters of this website for the wonderful job they have done accumulating such vasts amounts of information on psychedelic mushrooms. I have come to this site many times in search of answers regarding mushrooms. This, however, is the first time i;ve actually posted on the forum and would like to thank everyone on here for taking the time to read my question and hopefully provide me with sufficent answers so here we go.. My question is a friend of mine (who lives in a country where growing magic mushrooms is legal) is attemping to use the standard 1/2 pint PF method to colonize some jars, and he was wondering after the jars have fully colonized what would be the best balance between difficulty and yields when considering away of fruiting the mushrooms. What i mean is how can i get the best yields from a PF cake? What should i case them in and how? I read in a tek on here about mixing a PF cake with corncob and then being able to use that to use a bulk substrate like wheat staw.. has anyone done this and if so could they elaborate on the what and whens of this method..? I know there is a ton of information readily avaiable on this site my problem is trying to sift through all of it to find what would be best suited for me.. so i figured i should asked someone more expierenced who could tell me what exactly i can do to get the bests yeilds with some PF cakes.
Thank you very much, Pajawoa

OK I'll meet you half way. Casing will give the best yields from a pf cake and is not really that difficult to do. Now you can narrow your search to casing, and pick the best method for you. Peace and good luck.

The yields can vary greatly just between cakes, and if this is your first go around, I'd go for keeping things simple, maybe just cakes in a terrarium just to get hands on experience and then go from there. Put off the more challenging casing teks for later. Also, if you're growing just for yourself, and maybe a couple friends to some extent, if a few cakes turn out well and give you say three flushes a piece you'll have a decent amount anyway (assuming a couple flushes are disappointing, a couple ok, and maybe a monster flush in there somewhere).

The yield for one cake is usually on average 3.5 grams dry. You will get a much better yield from a casing, and in my opinion is allot better of a decision, I did a casing for my first grow and it turned out great.

I used to cultivate pf style and only pf style for about 2 years. The best thing you can do for pf cakes is to dunk em before the first flush. 50 wet grams first flush rarely below. Ive had up to 70 wet grams first flush dunking right on birthing then placing in to fruit.

I just crumbled one and half, half pint cakes onto a one inch layer of vermiculite, then covered with another 1/2 inch layer on top. I then patched the first spots of mycelium with some vermiculite and put into fruiting chamber. http://shroomery.org/faq/faq.php?list=category&nr=4&prog=1&lang=en This link will have all the info you need. Good Luck
