Also, from Denver yesterday...
Quote:
ENGLEWOOD, Colo.
(AP)—The largest crowd ever to watch a Denver Broncos practice didn’t much like what it saw.
New quarterback Kyle Orton(notes), acquired from Chicago for Pro Bowl passer Jay Cutler(notes) in the biggest NFL trade of the offseason, was booed by the crowd of 13,402 at his unofficial debut at Invesco Field when he threw two interceptions and several bad passes during a structured scrimmage Thursday night.
Orton drew the fans’ ire when he was picked off twice by cornerback Andre’ Goodman(notes), the second of which was returned for a long touchdown.
“I had a good day,” Goodman said in a lonely sentiment afterward.
Orton also was jeered when he threw behind receiver Chad Jackson(notes), again when he missed a wide-open Jabar Gaffney(notes) in the end zone and also when he floated a pass down the middle that Champ Bailey(notes) busted up.
“Fans can cheer. They can boo,” Orton said. “We’ve got good fans, and they’re passionate about their football, that’s for sure.”
We can has Cutler back now?

He did NOT run him out of town. One of the most respected men in all of sports, Pat Bowlen pulled the trigger on the trade because Jay wouldn't answer his phone and went around lying about it, saying Bowlen never called. Cutty and his agent are a couple of ho's. McDaniels system was going to cut into Jay's numbers and his influence with the offense, and for better or worse, they decided that it was time to get out. I can't say I blame him.
As far as Shanahan goes, when was the last time the Broncos won a playoff game????

Oh for the love of Pete
Is there anyone who REALLY believes that McDaniels thinks he has found his real #1 in Orton? Of course not. It shows how dumb and short sided the average fan is, and I'm referring to the ones around here who seem to think that McDaniels believes this.
As I said, Jay FORCED the Broncos to trade him. His antics turned a city that was IN LOVE with him against him, and there was no other option. What could be done? At some point, no matter how talented a person is, you have to look at their character and ask if you want to be in business with that person don't you?
Unless Orton starts off hot, we'll see Simms by week 4.

So your assertion is that Cutler forced a trade, which isn't even possible, because he was worried about his numbers dropping?
And so now he's in Chicago, where his numbers, the experts say, are sure to drop.
Do you see the logical disconnect there?
And if they think Simms is the better player, shouldn't they be getting him some reps w/ the first team?
Is Orton "forcing" them to play him?

Did he "force" a trade? Well, lets see. He gets pissed about his first meeting with McD, and there's all this butthurtz going around, Bowlen leaves it to McD to reach out to Jay, and he does, and Jay never returns his calls. Understandable. Well at some point it gets ramped up and leaks start saying Jay will never play for McD, ever. That festers for a while and then bowlen steps in (a lot of people argue too late and I can see their point) and Jay won't talk to the man. Pat then green lights a trade.
Did he "force" a trade? If I put a gun in your mouth and tell you to wash my car or die, am I "forcing" you to wash it? No. I'm attempting to persuade. At the end of the day you cannot force anybody to do anything.
Him and McD were never going to see eye to eye. You mention the failure of all the other Belicheck (sp) assistants, but I don't think any of them had the "line in the sand" approach that their mentor had. McD does.
Jay's getting what he wants, slurped. He's a spoiled kid who will start wetting the bed for attention the next time something he doesn't like happens.
Look at his wack ass comments today. That the bears fans are more passionate. Please. He just HAD to talk trash, and to the fans at that. It is impossible for a city or a state, hell, a whole REGION of this country to be more passionate about their team then Broncos fans are.
He's a ho.

Every player on every team in the country says they have the best fans ever.
Are you seriously holding that up as a reason he's a douche?
I believe 100% that you're just trying to justify what you know was a stupid move.
There is just no conceivable way this makes your team better.

Sure it does. The attitudes and antics of today's players is ridiculous. You go to NE, excuse me, let me rephrase that, IF they LET you come to NE, you know that there is a standard to live up to, period. Weren't you arguing for Vick going there due to how Moss has been handled and fit in? Well, it didn't get that way by letting the inmates run the asylum.
McD is young and was challenged by a pro bowl QB during his first month on the job and it was about who's vision of the offense the team was going to run, who the coaches were going to be and so on. What should a 32 year old man who wants to coach in the NFL for the next 25 years do with that? Bow? McD can't have his QB, who MAY have 6 years of prime time play left in him pushing him around and dictating the direction of HIS team. How would the rest of the team and league take that?
Give an inch and they'll take a mile.
Before this ever went down I was harping on Jay's crappy positioning and lack of touch. Not to mention he ALWAYS seemed to turn the ball over at the worst possible times and was the starting QB behind the greatest collapse in NFL history.
As far as the fans comments go, that's just the icing on the cake. Read what he said. he couldn't just say, "Wow, these fans are great, I'm so blessed" it was "These fans are so much more passionate than the Denver fans and "
Jay Cutler, unless he is holding the clip board, will NEVER win a Super Bowl. He's basically Jeff George's little sister.

Do you believe that trading him for Kyle Orton makes Denver better at football?

I believe that making a statement about what type of conduct you are going to allow on your team, even from top notch star players, is THE most important singular thing that you can do as a coach/owner.
Jay and his agent milked this, and to top it off, called Pat Bowlen, a man who adored Jay and signed his checks, a liar, REPEATEDLY to the press.
Doesn't that guy HAVE to go? How could you work with him? And if you let him get away with that, what else is he going to expect?
I personally don't think Jay is THAT great. Bus Cook has got him gassed.
Yes, the Denver Broncos are better off without him all things considered.
Let me ask you this. Considering that not many young pro bowl QB's hit the market, why was there not more interest in him?

That wasn't what the scuttlebutt was. Dude is poison. If you're an owner, and he did this to Pat Bowlen, and if you're an owner you KNOW Pat Bowlen, and Pat tells you what's going on, do you want to bring THAT to your team? A guy like Jerry Jones or Al Davis, maybe. Or a city and franchise that is STARVED for a QB.
But really, they got what they could.

Exactly. There was tons of teams wanting to get a slice of Cutty. They were just more focused on getting him out of the AFC and out of the AFC West. Denver might as well have asked for Rex Grossman as far as im concerned. Chicago has sucked soo much dick lately because of their 2 shitty QB's.

Name them. Again, this guy was PUBLICLY disrespecting and lying about one of the most respected men in all of sports. Sure, there would have been teams that gave up a little something for him, but they weren't going to get much more than they got. The true interest level was low. Cutler IS a risk.
Let's look at it another way. A-Rod, for all of his problems, and monster contract, if it became appearant that he HAD to be traded, all things considered, he would land the Yanks a ton of something non? That's because his "problems" aren't like Jay's problems.

They got two first round picks, a second round pick, and a starting quarterback.
Has any player ever been traded for more?
Anyone?
Help me out, because I can't think of one.
And you think this was a discount package given from lack of interest?
Your views on this trade are so skewed.

And your claim is that the starting QB is garbage and that it was a horrible trade for the Broncos.
I think they got a decent haul and for the Broncos it was more than they could have hoped for. And I was shocked at what they got as was most everyone else in Denver because it was known that the real interest in him was low.
Chicago gave up a LOT (too much) in my book, but whatever, they're looking for their savior. It's not going to work very well.
