Ok heres the questions... Would it be ok to dunk a cake that i birthed a few days ago even though it has no pins or knots??

Second one.....If spmeone were to inoculate a pint sized jar with only a half pint of substrate would it colonize and grow up the fill the empty space in the jar??

You only want to dunk after flushes to rehydrate a cake. Want you want to do is cold shock it to initiate pinning. I just set mine in the fridge over night. As for filling in the space, although the mycelium puffs up sometimes, it won't fill in that much space. The only reason people don't fill their jars all the way is to leave head room for shaking, this is mostly only done with grain and it spreads out mycelium evenly to speed colonization, instead of starting at one point and colonizing to the other.

ok the caked was already shocked overnight to initate pinning and placed in the fruiting chamber but still nothing and thought that if dunked it would help it to start pinning.....just an idea
