Newbie to the fullest in need of assistance

A friend of mine just game me a birthed cake.....I've never seen this stuff before but he gave me this website....It has been 2 days and I have been taking care of it via the way he told me modified slightly because of my research.....My question is: I just noticed tonight that about a square 1/8 inch of the cake has a little brighter white mold that is just a little different consistancy as the rest of the mold....is this bad and should I just toss the cake and make him give me a new one?....I'll get pics soon to compare.

I came into this world free of sin but I leave it free of virtue

It may or may not be contamination. Just hang on to the cake and see if it changes colors or starts to smell.

Don't let the cops search you. Let them know that you care about your rights.

Depending on its current growth stage, it could be a sign that pinning will begin soon. I've notices that the mycelium will turn light then slowly develop a pin... but it COULD still be contamination.

I am going to guess that it is very wispy white section eh? If so that is a type of myc growth that is not all that condusive to pinning. Whatever. Like the above posts say all you can really do is wait. If you are getting cottony sectors across the boards then it might be time for a new strain. ...
