Ok, I guess this is the forum for silly sissy-topics like "Love," ...as opposed to all the serious and important discussion going on over in OTD.
So.
Better situation to be in:
? Painfully, pathetically love-sick over one person you simply cannot have that way, ever.
? Not being in love and having no feelings, not even the slightest bit of interest, for anyone at all.
Of course no one actually has the luxury of choosing these things in real life, but if you could; which would it be and why?
There are some bitter jaded people here, and some idealists too, so I'd like to see what you think.

Ehh these options suck...
How bout choice # 3:
Don't be a depressed, sulking lame-o and keep yourself open to a relationship of equal or possibly even greater magnitude as choice #1 in the future ? 
I only say this because I've been through choice # 1 and # 2 just sounds like a dream...or nightmare perhaps?

Ok, I guess there's always a choice number 3, and 4, and 5.
Of course they both suck. I've just been wondering for a long tine whether pointless and depressing 'love' is better than no love at all; and still haven't come to any conclusion.

Definitely number two. If you are painfully, pathetically love-sick you are just fucking everyone over anyway so you really can't call it love.

When you make it sound like that (pointless, depressing) I want to say choice #2 - but choice # 2 is ultimately humanly impossible.
So isn't there a way to change your opinion of the choice #1 type of love? (does that make any sense!?)
Say you just accept the fact that you can never have her in 'that way' and your love will be left to the realm of "friedship"...is that necessarily any less meaningful than the love you'd experince if you were fucking her?

I've never been completely uninterested but I'll bet it would be better than number one. I can't wrap my brain around "no interest at all" but I think it would have advantages. Lemme think about it.

Get a new turban...
I've actually been in the second category for a long time now, and wanting to just write up a big sign saying "Non-Sexual!" and use it to perform paper-cut seppuku.
But I miss the irrational one-sided (ok, one-and-a-half sided... even worse) pseudolove I've been in in the past. But I think this is only because of my tendencies toward masochism.
So, actually I'm just wasting your time and moaning about not having anything to moan about.

After some consideration I pick the first option. I don't see how this is a luxury. These options both suck.

i actually concurr with Dee's answer, however to limit my own to the 2 choices you have outlined herein, who says you have no concious choice in the matter?
