Looks a bit dry? It came out of the bag that way, or turned blue since then? I say spray it down good.

Is there any problem with getting it too wet? What should I do about the pins that are already there, or is there a chance they will start growing again if it's just moisture?
Thanks Doc

you can mist it to much just avoid pooling water on the sub for long periods of time, that might be a good tip and cube pins are fine to mist so go ahead and givem a spray, and then a short fan if you do so desire

Well guys, just thought I'd give you an update. My tubs have been in fruiting conditions for almost a week now. The cracking occurred when I moved the tubs from awkwardly placed shelves, nothing to do with dryness. Comments/suggestions are appreciated!

I don't think you've hurt anything, there's a lot of water in a block that big. But spray it enough to bring it up to full moisture. Wet it down, let that soak in, repeat until it's saturated. No standing water. Then, mist enough to replace lost moisture, about once a day.

You could bring the lights considerably closer for good results.

What would you consider as being saturated? Considering that you feel ours might be too dry as well.
Thanks

Guys, it's not this hard. You're over-thinking. It starts at field capacity. Mist to replace that.

Ok thanks Doc I'll keep ya posted. Do you think those pins are aborts? Or do they still have a chance to grow?

Intensity does for sure. The color spectrum is debateable in my opinion. I see excellent results from the regular cool-white spectrum bulbs, which are cheaper and radiate less heat. I have been looking very hard for any difference for months and nada.

So you recommend using lighting on them rather then just having them in a lighted room?
What do you consider the difference?

Oh big diff. Better pinning, sturdier / darker caps. Look at these caps:
These all with intense lighting. Look how straight up all the fruits are. The light was sitting directly against the top of the fc. Was overkill, but interesting.

So what's the difference between that and sitting them in direct sunlight then?

Hey, doods.
Doc_t, I thought I'd let you know that I got a traditional monotub to fruit well in this absurdly dry and low-oxygen environment:

I think we can chalk up the rather impressive canopy to genetics. It is an isolate after all. It's strong point is NOT colonization, though. That's on the slow side of average.
Only thing "special" I did was fanned once a day, and misted, pretty much just like you do. Substrate was coir and vermiculite. Normally, I go with manure, but I'm out, and as I work nights, it's been difficult coordinating a trip over to the large pile-o-horse-poo just off 285... which I don't think goes over to the Springs. Anyway, good place to find weathered nuggets.
I thought I was gonna give the msg tubs a try, but I've always had a desire for traditional monotubs. Both should and can work equally as well.
I have another one on its way, about to fruit. I spawned and allowed to colonize outside of a bag, in the same room as the fruiting tub, and also opened it up once a day to manually fan. These things are almost retard-proof. I say "almost," because I failed twice as a noob, years and years ago,and thought this style of tub wouldn't work in the Rockies.
Happy growins, y'all.

That's a nice one.

What strain? It looks like a medium-sized cube, but has dimples like amazon or GT.

Well the plus part guys is got more pins showing up in one of the tubs, we will see how the others start doing. Stuck the other ones into a bigger tub closed off and sprayed around with water so that the humidity is at least 80% in there, and then go ahead and open it up and fan it every so often...
Anyone ever try this? Thanks I'll get pics soon!
Faceyneck-nice tub!
