Damn I really wanted a print I only have few trades though. I'll be around for second flush .
So you think the hybrid worked more efficient than the monotub?

I've had great results doing it monotub style, too. 1" holes with polyfil, 4 to 6 per side. I haven't done side by side trials with an isolate culture, so I can't say which is better. But do tape or paint the bottom part of the tub, I've learned that through too many side pins.

This seems less messy than Ohmatic's trashbag in the tub thing.

Hey doc, Great work. I am going to try something just like that here soon. I have been a bit nervous about my monotubs since this will be my first time working with them

nice job, Doc_T. i think the true word for my mini tubs is "ultra-mini" tubs due to looking your log. my tubs are so small.
anyways, i'm adding your log to my bookmarks
is it multispore?

Multispore LC, yes. I'm just building a glovebox now so I can clone some of these biggies.

I've done both- this one has a bag in it. But I like it better without.

I was under the impression the bag also kept the condensation from the sides from dripping down directly on the substrate and pooling?

the clear tub isn't necessary though right? only a clear lid for the light to shine down through

Still not dry. I moved them out of the dehydrator and into the damp rid too soon. I'm not used to these biggies.

I dunno. RR has been on this kick recently about lighting, so I'm giving it a try. More light. Not just enough, but lots of light, good bright light 12/12. And what do you know... that dude's right. Again. I haven't run controlled isolated tests, but my observation is that yes, light helps with more than just the initial pinset.
So try the experiment- build a clear one and a dark one, see what you think.

Do you leave a bag over the tub during colonization, or just let it sit?
Im confused on the FAE/GE part. I thought you only needed GE during colonization, and introduced FAE for fruiting.

You are exactly right about GE/FAE. So I put the whole tub into a large bag, and twist it shut with some air in it. Then I open it every other day and let it breathe. (Some people use foil with pinholes.)
When it's ready for fruiting, that's when you introduce the FAE. Take it out of the bag, put it in a drafty room, you're done.
Edit- there's also a half-height version of this tub, some of you have seen it. I use those in dubtub style. They are much easier to manage for colonization, you can just put it in a box or something. I'll post pics in a couple of days, probably.

Here's the other tub I made at the same time. Same LC, but multispore, so I would expect similar, but not necessarily identical results between tubs. This tub was left on a shelf next to my greenhouse, in an inside, indoor room that gets a bit stuffy. It didn't pin for weeks. Then I put it inside my 4-tier greenhouse, and it exploded.
So I think the traditional oscillating fan is indicated for most people in most situations. We know that FAE makes bigger, healthier, meatier fruits. It doesn't look like much in the pics, but those fruits are dense. 18.7 ounces is the harvest weight. They get the fan tonight, I can't put them in the dehydrator just yet.

avoid blue tubs, strange muntants happen, but a purple tub worked fine!

Dayum, that should be just shy of two dry oz. So, ~3oz combined from first flushes of two of these little tubs... I'm sold.
