Resurrecting dried shrooms on cardboard :)

This is a continuation and small re-cap from my other post as it was getting a bit off topic in "Mushroom Hunting and Identification" My old post - MY FIRST SHROOMS!!! plz help identify.
Obtained 100 dried Subs (Psilocybe Subaeruginosa) off a mate... well nearly fully dried, the stems were completely dry but the tops still had a small amount of flex in them. Then picked out 4 of my biggest that felt the most flexy, in the hope that they contained some living tissue or be mature enough to have seeded a few spores.
I then went about soaking some cardboard for 10-15mins in my pond (Maybe not the most sterile choice..... but cbf filling up a container to soak it in at the time.)
Next i peeled apart the cardboard and placed my lucky 4 subs
& finally Placed the cardboard somewhere cool, damp and away from direct sunlight. It may be a good idea to place a board of wood or something underneath to give other bacteria less of a chance at the cardboard, but i was over scrabbling around under that bush so i left it as is.
They were placed there last thursday (16/7/09) will b checking them this thursday coming Hopefully this is going to work and ill see some mycelium starting to grow by then.
My technique is based on the link "karode13" was kind enough to sending me. (cheers big help) Make cardboard spawn with all of your finds! Tutorial.

I'm sorry man, but this is not going to work. This is somewhat difficult to do even with healthy living mushroom tissue, and you are trying to do it with whole dried mushrooms, that probably have VERY little or more likely no living tissue.

doh!.... lol yeah u are probs right, a few other ppls said similar in my other post, but fingers crossed. I took a photo last sunday (3 nights after placing them) (impatient to see if there was any progress)
(in person the myc looks a clean white not the sorta blue/green tinge one of the photos) oh and those lumps are the bases of a few subs that were cased in dirt and dried myc that i placed in when i took these two photos.
what do ya reckon..... sub mycelium or common mould....? hope its sub myc but have a bad feeling it is mould.....

It looks like mould in my opinion and you should be using fresh stem butts to begin with. 10/10 for trying
This method does work for wood lovers if you use fresh material and is virtually idiot proof. Really try to find some fresh ones before the season is over.

listen man. if you are going to pick them wild anyway then just take a print out in the field and then cultivate from that print. why do it the hard way?

Ya that looks like mold to me. If you are gonna use fresh tissue make sure you are a little more clean i.e. dont soak the cardboard in your pond water lol, and you may have some luck.

This is the easiest way for a beginner with no growing experience to start growing wood lovers if they have access to fresh material. No need for sterile techniques, just wet cardboard in clean water, place stem butts in between and in 2-3 days the fine mycelium threads on the end of the stem starts to grow. In about two weeks transfer colonized cardboard and mix with wood chips. It has been done numerous times and is too easy.

hahah yeah pond water was a bit dodge....
Maybe a good thing if it doesn't work as they were weak as fk. me and 3 mates devoured the 100 between us and only got a mild trip, felt like an ok pill & things were a bit trippy like occasional small visual distortion out of the corner of ur eye, but not much other than that. Or maybe my expectations are 2 high...? as that was my first shroom trip.
Maybe it was caus they weren't dried properly or 2 old, as i don't know when they were picked.
mmmmm picking myself definitely seems to be the best solution, just gotta find em.

He said he got some old dried ones from someone else. And just so everyone knows, cardboard is not JUST for woodlovers. I put chunks from nice looking fat outdoor cubes on cardboard to transfer and clone.

cardboard is pretty selective against molds he might have some luck and it didnt seem like it took to much cost or effort I dont understand why people are being so negative about it.

One way to tell if its mushroom mycelium is to bruise it. Subs will stain blue really quickly, though you may contaminate it by touching it.
