hook up the positives first, then the negatives.

My truck can usually be jumped off, and the alternator will keep the battery charged. If I were you, have her alternator checked out at discount auto or something.
Once jumped off, a car with a working alternator should charge the battery good enough to start on it's own power, if she drives it enough.
If she got jumped, drove 2 miles and parked her car, of course it's going to be dead again, the alternator didn't have enough time to re-charge the battery.
She drove it awhile.
She's got a decent commute to work. At least 30 minutes on the hwy.
So the likely culprit is the alternator, from what I gather here.

Yep, if you charge it with a battery charger and a few days later it wont crank anymore, you'll know its the alternator.
I think advance auto parts, or discount auto(if they aren't the same company) will test the alternator right outside the building.
Well, one way to physically see if the alternator works, is jump her car off at night. Turn her headlights on once her car is running, then give it gas and see if the headlights brighten.

Not necessarily, it could just be the battery. If the battery gets fully charged but then drops below 12 V while being started then its bad. If the battery is bad you can commute to work just fine, you dont need the battery while the car is on - only when starting.
But of course a dead battery alone doesnt mean the battery is dead. It could be the alternator, since if the alternator is bad energy gets drained from the battery. But having a bad alternator does effect your car while you are driving it causing erratic behavior or even the car shutting off. Since she drove for 30 mins and nothing weird happened I would think its more likely the battery than the alternator. Get a free battery test at auto zone to make sure.

Trust me ,it sounds like the battery ,most newer cars will have a dummy light that sayes the alternator is bad...I am assuming its a newer car or a gauge that will read low voltage on the dash.
The battery place will run a check on the battery for free, definatly not the starter and probably not the alternator.
I work on cars and engines all the time as a hobby.
Here is the last engine I built.

Oh, so I just got home and got an update.
Apparently they couldn't even jump her car this time. It wouldn't turn over at all, even with her Dad's truck hooked up and revving.
So I don't know what to say. The battery is fucked?

If it was just her battery she would still be able to be jumped off. Either they tried to jump without a solid connection, or you have a wiring/ground problem.
