let me check.. TIHKAL addresses the stability issue, but only in the most cursory manner. In general phosphorylated compounds are quite stable with regards to oxidation. I would conjecture that the bruising comes from cells rupturing and releasing cell contents (including oxidases and other normally contained chemicals) that would readily attack the psilocin (since it does carry a nice juicy reactive group, namely the -OH). Could be just babble on my part though.

I would think that is pretty good conjecture on your part! :smile:

Also, maybe we should reiterate this point, in case some people are confused on this on this aspect of it. Molecules don't bruise. Tissues bruise as the result of cellular damage!
