Hey, i know a fair bit of you use your microwave instead of a preassure cooker. but i was just wonderin what different methods you guys are using. ive grown onece before i sterilized the jartds by p[lacing them in a por of boiling water, it worked "OK" but i dont have access for to a PC nor hte money for one. i know that a preassure cooker is HIGHLY recomenedded and is way simpler and easier and soo much better so i dont need poeple telling me to go out and get a PC etc.. so please if you have a methid using a microwavev or any other ways to sterilze your substrate wihtout the use of a PCtnkas in advance your information is greatly appreciated..

people usually just use a microwave to sterilize casing layers and such not pf jars. so good luck.

I've heard of people using their ovens to sterilize. I don't know any exact methods but if you decide to use your microwave, make sure you're not using metal lids. I have never used anything but the pc, and I think that its the wisest investment in the entire cultivation process. Mine was 4qt mirro from walmart. It was only $25. American dollars of course.

just in case acidsmuf wasn't clear enough putting metal lids in your mic will fuck it up. Look man steam boil them and use your microwave for funner (stupider) things like lightbulbs and cds (If you don't mind stinking up your house try this cause it's the trippest).

A microwave is no better than a pot of boiling water. It all comes down to this: 15 minutes at 121 degrees C will kill anything (the reason we pressure cook for longer is to make sure the centre reaches 121 degrees). The only way you can get 121 degrees is in a pressure cooker at 15psi. 100 degrees is enough for some substrates, but is by no means guaranteed to kill everything. Regardless of whether it's in a pot of boiling water, a microwave or an oven at 350F, wet substrate will never get hotter than 100 degrees C. Buy a pressure cooker.

just that a microwave is alot easier then aboiling a pot of water, last time i stuck a rag in the bottom of the pan.. cuz i thought if the glass was touvching the bottom of the pan they may crack or soemthing.. woudl that actually happen or do i need not worry.. also do you need to fill the pot up full adn submerge the jars? well nto submerge leave enuff so water dont get in the top holes..? or is it possible to just throw a bit of water on the bottom of the pot mebbe liek halfway up to the jars and just let that boil to heat up the reast.. ?

Put a rag on the bottom. Fill the pan with water to the height of half the jars, and you can stack jars.

The reason for the rags is you dont want too much heat centered on one area. I think you may even cook some of the substrate without the rag.

Coma, did you like the light bulb? People have said it'll blow after like 5 seconds in the mic but at a friends place we just turned it on and let it go and nothing happened but maybe his mic is weak.

the reason for the rag is so there is something between the burner and the jars so they dont burn and charcoal
