Well, I am kind of screwed.I cant gat any calcium chloride intil tomorow, but my freind needs to pick them tonight. Exactly how much air flow is required to fan dry?? How strong does the fan have to be?? How long will the shrooms last if they are being fan dried?? Can I just put them on a wire scrrn overtop of my airvents, or do I need a strongr air flow?? Thanks for any help.

Drying shrooms are like drying clothes. Just a light, generally warm airflow will do the trick. Just setting them out in the open with no air flow will dry them out it a couple days. I just set them on a paper towel put a fan on low a few feet away, and there pretty dry the next day.

No worries! I wasn't annoyed at all. I've read the FAQ several times, and still forget little nuggets of wisdom. I didn't know the answer to the question, so I did a search. (I will be to that point in cultivation very soon...) It answered the question better than I could, so I pointed you in that direction.
Now, if I was annoyed the answer would have sounded more like, "Dear fuckwad..."

You can get by without the dessicant, using a fan to blow room temp air over them is ideal; the dessicant is more for fine drying after the fan has done most of the work.

Alternetly you could get some epsom salts instead of Dessicent. Just bake it in the Microwave or oven for 30 minutes or so, crush it back into a powder and you`re good to go. Fan for a day and put it in the fridge with your epsom salts.

you should dry them before you put them in the fridge, i have wire shelves in my closet, i turn the fan face down on the shelf and put the wet mushrooms on the shelf below that. it only takes 2 days and they are bone dry.

getting them bone dry with just fan drying is dependent on the relative humidity in your house. If someones house has a higher RH, then the mushrooms will not get dry enough for longer storage. I say get a food dehydrator and never have to worry about that problem again. And don't believe the hype about food dehydrators.... you can use heat to dry your mushrooms, just not too much heat.

He was asking how he would be able to DRY his mushrooms, not turn them into a soggy stinky mass of fungis. So Shrooms44 why not stop posting just for the sake of posting. If you have no info reagrding how to dry mushrooms then rather keep quite.

>Exactly how much air flow is required to fan dry?? The air should be moving.
>How strong does the fan have to be?? It doesn?t have to be strong. A fan like the one blowing air out at the back of your computer is more than enough.

use your brain guys............he has no means to dry them. If his friend picks them tonight, then HE must store them in the frige. Then he can trip on the weekend.

ARE YOU ILLITERATE???
Just put your damn mushrooms on your pc monitor or put them in front of your pc fan. Any amount of moving air will dry your mushrooms more than they are Shrooms44.
