How do others cope with this pest? My shiitake block got a small patch of it....which was surprising as the block was resting at the time. I merely treated it with NaCl and it's looking as if that has either killed the trichoderma and/or the shiitake mycelium has taken over.

I know some people advocate dunking in sodium hypochlorite....I just seem to have an issue with that and edibles....kinda like drinking toilet bowl water ;-)

Nah, its just a little bleach. It will not get into the food. Toilet bowl water has poop in it. Assuming that you do not mix your bleach solution in the toilet you should be fine. In the lab I use a little silver nitrate to kill Trichderma, but I would not recomend it for your case......that would be far worse than toilet bowl water.

Broadly speaking, yes. I happen to have NaCl kicking around...but you'd be better off procuring table salt at a grocery store near you....the iodine in it will stop it caking, too ;-)

Treating trichoderma with NaCl is not a particularly new or exotic concept...but it is a little hit or miss.
