What was the motive? This happened to a friend of mine while he was playing with with the window-smasher's wife. My friend did nothing because, well, he knew he deserved it.
What happened in your case? How do you know? It's often best not to even let the cops know there is a problem, so that when you have to resolve it yourself, there is no paper trail.
