Quality vs. Quantity

Alright.. I wan't some input from some pplz... now, say you had 2 piles... 1 pile had 2 very beautiful mushies... weighing out to 4 grams... and in the other pile about 6 smaller mushies that weighed out to 4 grams. Which pile would you grab for? From my experience the weight of the shroom itself is inconsequential. But, I would like another opinion, Quality vs. Quantity.

In general it seems that the smaller the mushroom the more potent it is.

And then the mushroom god would punish you while you weren't looking. She doesn't like greed.

Does a dead, half decomposed body bruise?

Plz Explain bruising. Is it just wacking the stem with a pen or something? and why would the darker bruising shroom be the most potent? and how does a dead, decomposing body compare to a dried shroom? a properly dried and preserved shroom isn't decomposing.

Bruising on a mushroom is similar to bruising when someone hits you really hard and you get a bruise. IF you press too hard on the mushroom's body, they will simply bruise. For some people, the blue indication on shrooms seemt o indicate potency, but Im not positive on that hypothesis. I can just inflict blueing on my mushies if i wanted. And a dead body compares to a mushroom because once a mushroom is dried, like a body, it shuts down its growing process. Can you hit the hell out of a dry corpse and bruise it up? Probably very Unlikely.

Thanks for clarifiying my analogy.
The theory is that when handling a mushroom you somtimes change the shape of the shroom, such as when you are pressing or tearing. This introduces oxygen. When psilocybin... or was is psilocin (I always get the 2 confused)... gets oxidized it turns blue. If someone would like to explain this in more detail, I myself would like to hear more about it.

The bruising itself is just as much indicative of the enzyme content of the mushroom as the alkaloid content, so should not be relied on to determine potency. I find that the colour of the bruising is more indicative. Pan cyans and woodlovers tend to bruise a very dark ink blue/black, whereas less potent cubensis are a light bluish green. Some cubies do stain a lot darker blue - even black with PES Amazonians and GTs. The staining being an indicator of potency is contentious though. Psilocybe Semilanceata is highly potent, but due to its low content of psilocin, does not stain blue at all. Ive tended to find that cubensis that fruit smaller and provided smaller yields off the same substrate (millet 400mls) than another spore-race that provides bigger yields, tend to be more potent. Less fruits can be better.
