after inoculation you shake them for 45 seconds to one minute trying to get the slurry touching everything.

read the op... I made that mistake on my first attempt
Quote:
15. After you have inoculated all of your jars and bags. You simply shake the jars for 2045 seconds each. You want to distribute that extra water you poured into your grain jars as much as possible so that you don't have any issues after this. At first you will get a little scared because your jars will look like there is pooling water at the bottom once they have sat on the shelf a few hours.
He does say right after that you don't want to shake but he means not to shake to redistribute the mycelium as you would a 30% colonised grain jar/bag:
Quote:
Be patient, wait it out. The idea is to have fully colonized jars in 3 days without a shake and it works.
FOR THE SLURRY IN A HURRY TEK DO NOT SHAKE THE JARS. THE KEY HERE IS TO HAVE FULLY COLONIZED JARS/BAG SPAWN IN 3 DAYS WITHOUT SHAKING THE JARS AT ALL.!!!!
So the answer is yes right after inoculation shake the hell out of it to redistribute the slurry and then after that don't shake again and it should colonise in the 3 days...

So another tip is to make sure the jars are only at 3/4 or less. I made the mistake of making them too full and whenever I shook a jar a lot of the slurry would just get stuck to the top of the lid which is no good. Next round I will make sure that they have plenty of room to shake without hitting the lid.

pure genius carc. is that pp5 and pcable?
yes it's pp5 and PCable
the bottom of the jar is regular mouth size and the top is wide mouth but the lid screw inside of the jar so a normal mason lid won't fit but its lid dont leak and is pcable too so its fine

for the lid, http://www.amazon.ca/Ball-Straw-Lids-Pkg-Wide-Mouth/dp/B00GYB3I94
i've cut the center of the green lid but its offset so the pour hole of the sip'n'straw is closest possible of the side of the jar i also cut the pour lid near the hole for this purpose i'll put pics later of it too if you want
glued everything with regular bathroom silicone and tadah
it work great!

Went down to check the slurry bags this morning, and discovered that one bag had fallen to this nasty yellow spored mold.

That bag was discarded immediately and the rest of the bags were carefully inspected one by one.
On a positive note : I am happen to report that there is no other contamination thus far present in any of the rest of the slurry bags.
In fact recovery has been noted on a few small areas in just 2 of 10, now 9 bags.

There's a couple of spots in a few of these bags that look questionable. Never seen slurry recovery, so that's a factor. The rest of the bags all smell good/normal.
Afraid the rate of recovery on this particular slurry project is going to warrant the transfer of freshly colonized grain spawn to be launched into these bags. Got a schedule to maintain & time is money.

That's pretty crazy they are taking that long ham...all my slurries have been fast fast. I had a blended plate a while back that just never took...no contams no growth at all. When I dumped the jars they smelled fine...it was weird as hell. Was only like ten jars no big deal but I never did figure out why.

that sux. man im sorry to hear that. looks funky id chunk it. were there filter patches on the bags?
on a side note. here is what it looks like side by side when your using the GLC and the Grain Slurry. The jars on the left are the GLC or liquid part of the inoculation and the jars on the right have actual blended up grain in them poured as a sludge.

oh man carc, my next project. here is another view of GLC on the left and slurry on the right. from grains. you can see the slurry is ahead of the GLC.

That bag was chunked on the spot. Another, different colored, light green, almost turquoise colored mold has appeared in another bag yesterday morning.

This morning it was noticed that 6 more bags have fallen to contams which is leading to believe that the inoculm was dirty.

This leaves 2 bags left with NOTHING going on in them, so the decision to inoculate these grain bags with freshly colonized grain spawn has been re-considered, and decided against. Instead, just going to let this experiment play it's self out, and see what happens. The guess is that the other two bags will contaminate along the inoculation pattern the same way as the previously fallen spawn bags.
