So would it be a good idea to add in uncolonized, but PC'd grains into the sub and then the slurry? Or maybe colonized grains of same species and then slurry? It's been a bit since I read the full Tek but I thought he just did slurry into sub, no grain.

No once you expose grains to open air they are no longer sterile weather they were PCed or not. Eat makes it work but I haven't looked at the tek in a while. I'm pretty sure its just a standard substrate mixed with slurry though.

Ah yes, they'd be too weak without colonized mycelium to survive in this cold, cold world. Sometimes I wish I had a layer of mycelium all around my body so I could get through the tougher times, Muda. *rambles for 3 hours nonstop* And that's why I joined the circus. Anyway, thanks for the help!

yeah sac it definitely is better to be lower than field capacity and bring it up rather than the opposite. good luck.

4 oz dry 1st flush. 2.5 2nd.
With a lower spawn ratio it is slightly slower than lets say 5 quarts of wbs grain spawn. what i need to try next is 2 pf cakes per 66 quart sterilite monotub. id like to see if yield is increased to that equivalent of 5 quarts of spawn with a good clone.
the difference is like a bottle tek, you skip preparing grain for inoculation.

nice. now, if you look back at the log on the first page. mine were taking a little longer than 5 quarts of wbs would take to colonize being such a low spawn ratio. it took about 7 days for mine to colonize. my subs with quart spawn is usually about 5 max.
what day is this muda?

My original WBS tub now has pins everywhere after i modified the FAE the last two days.
yes it is slightly slower than wbs quart jars. your spawn ratio is much higher so you should expect faster colonization in grain spawn. but, for the low spawn ratio, its amazingly fast with 1 pf cake.

i was using a clone that was several years old but a known solid yielding clone. so, you may not get the same results with multispore.
i also want to thank all of you for trying to help me get this thing to where it needs to be. i don't have the opportunity now to do more test and i really appreciate it!

I won't , Working on an APE isolate I'll slurry after I get a good grow going.
Thanks for the thread and time eats

now ape isn't the ideal candidate for this. i find that ape starts to show slow growth, slow fruiting, and slow everything very quickly even with a good clone after a 2nd and 3rd g2g i already begin to see it slow down. you can try it but for now i would suggest something like a faster type cubensis like thai strains that like heat and grow fast.
being ape is already one of the slower cubensis to colonize grain for me, its not the ideal candidate. that doesn't mean it won't work, but i feel it may be a higher risk.

Really? Even if I was to colonize a cake with an iso LC then slurry it you think I'd see a big performance difference between that and my KSSS?

So much for my dreams of domesticating APE.

Guess I'll just work on my KSSS.

ive been dreaming of this as well. its just too damn slow. also, it loves water. high maintenance. ive had pans that are easier to deal with.

For APE does the 50/50 casing work fine or should I go all out with PH strips and non-nutritious layers and etc. Since I have two penis veterans here

I've always used jiffy. Can't find it now though. In the spring I'm going to just buy a thousand dollars worth.
