How long did you mix the sub? Did you massage the sub?

The grains were pretty pulverised. I did this to see what I can get away with so I blended pretty long.

There's no shame in spending an hour wringing out your slurry sub!

just an update to those interested. My two tubs are coming along, right now the WBS has taken over the casing at a faster rate than the slurry. Thats not bothersome though as i am interested in the yield for this one and i can always look for a better isolate on agar.
My original WBS tub now has pins everywhere after i modified the FAE the last two days.

I'm hoping I got this shit done right this time! The 1/2 pint jar is 1/4 of the BRF cake and I used it to noc up 5 quarts of WBS. The rest went to the tub. GODSPEED, BRF CAKE!

No. I made a slurry using just less than a pint of colonised oat spawn. Its risky opening up the grains like that but it might work.

How risky is it? I thought opening tubs for a look was standard? I've been opening my mini mono just a crack maybe once a day now? Whoops!

he said opening up the grains meaning blending them as he did and exposing the inside mushyness that is most likely not colonised and sterile making it a perfect substance for contam germination. The speed of the slurry may be able to outspeed any trouble there tough.

I understand that colonization of a tub with slurry is very fast, but if your not using any spawn jars, how much can it really yield? Is that really worthwhile?

Oh yeah, I misread that! Whoops.
invitro,
No clue what the yield is, but wouldn't it just act the same as grain and colonize the myc? I thought grains were just used as a method to transport the living myc, just like a slurry would.
eat is a beast so I just assume it'd have decent yields unless I did something wrong.

In a bulk sub the vast majority of the nutes come from the grain spawn so unless you use a lot of slurry there would be far fewer nutes in a slurried sub with no grain.
