Hey, just fucked up my grow by using the 50/50+ tek. I think it asks for too much hydrated lime because after 4 days in the inncubator, no sign of growth...So I took off that casing and decided to go for the coco coir casing, but the problem is that the mycilum is looking "gloomy" if one could say such a thing and I think maybe the lime killed it, or maybe not? It just doesn't seem very energetic.... Any thoughts on ways to tell if mycilum has died????

I think you were a little presumptious by ending the first casing attempt. 4 days is nothing. I've had casings take two weeks before any growth was recognized. How deep was your casing? If you want speedy recovery and harvest times, use only a layer thick enough to cover the mycelium completely. Personally I never mess around with PH balancing. My coco coir/vermiculite casings are strong enough for a man, but PH balanced for a women. Good luck, and just wait a little longer. When you try something, if you don't stick with it all the way to the end, you'll never know if it failed or would have worked. Relax, deep breathe, and wait it out. Atleast you will will then know what works and what doesn't.

thanks for the help, I just cased with coco coir and think that it will do better with that, and I didn't want to wait too long because I was a little weary about the hydrated lime I used, seemed very strong and not good for cubes...Anyway, I will wait out the coco coir and see if anything pops up

Well good luck, coco coir is my favorite casing material. Its very porous when sprinkled down, and seems to hold alot of moisture. Only annoying thing is the loose strands that sometimes become embedded into the cubies just like a tree growing around a man made obstacle. Good luck, and enjoy it. If your like me its just cool to see these psychedelic bonsai grow.
