homemade hydrapod (help plz :))

I am fixing to try to build my own hydra-pod like structure. I was wondering, does the top actually have to be a dome? or just anything? I am going to have major trouble finding a dome, so it would be cool if i could just use a piece of glass or something. Does the pod have to do with dripping condensation? Surely I could come up with come other way of catching it if that is the case. Thanks guys.
Also, where do i find hydroton at?

i don't have a hydro pod, nor have i seen one, but i can give a pretty good educated guess as to why you need the "dome" shape, and that is so that the condensation when built up.. just runs down the side rather than drip onto the fruits... hope that helps.
good luck, ribbit

A dome is more efficient than that of just a glass box. If you could it would be better to use a sphere. But yes you can use any shape you like. Try this link it is exactly what you want to do. humiditychamber@shroomtek

Cheap Substitute for Geolite:
volcanic rock, sold at walmart and home depot in large 40lb bags for less than $5. its the kind of stuff you use in propane grills. very porus and also very cheap =) the guys over at overgrow.com use this stuff as a substitute for geolite in their "bubbling buckets" which is essentially what myco ripped off for his pod design.
