rehydrating a mono tub....y or y not?

have done a few mono tubs and always have a hard time rehydrating without the sub getting mangled. the 3 tubs i have now i ve been just peeling the trashbag away from the sub and poring some water between the 2 on all 4 sides then spraying the top real good. i know it isnt sufficient or sanitary but it does ok for another flush. the question is can you do this during flushes(without spraying the top of course) if your sub is getting dry and kinda taking turns on each shroom(making a few big then once they re picked a few others take off) so they will all grow at once?
i hate having 100 small guys just waiting for the 15 big guys to be picked.... p.s. its btween 75 n 90 in my grow spot(summer time in an attic)

This isn't my way of doing it, but it might work. The substrate will suck up any excess water when it fruits, but I don't recommend stagnant pools of water in your tub.
My favorite way to hydrate a monotub is to take the polyfill out of the bottom holes and fill with water until it drains out of the holes. Then turn the water down to a trickle and leave it for an hour or so.
You can put the monotub in your bath tub or take it outside and use a hose.
Tip the tub on its side to drain the excess water.

Usually if the substrate is fully colonized it won't fall apart to easily. What I do to hydrate my substrate is to pour about 3 gallons of water in there then I put something on it to weigh it down. After about 4 hours of hydrating I take a hot nail to the bottom of the tub let the water drain out then put a piece of tape over it.
If you are worried about your pinset then you need to start cloning and Isolating. Not saying that you can't get a great pinset from multispore grow. I would only dunk in between flushes and if it is looking dry during the flush I would just mist the shit out of it.
Also lots of fresh and humidity will help with you pinset.

Why wouldn't you spray the top?
You need to keep the substrate hydrated. Pour water on top and around the edges any time the substrate is beginning to dry out. Soak it well, and then let it partially dry before soaking again. It doesn't have to be done between flushes. You can hydrate a substrate as needed. RR

i always read that it isnt good to have water sitting ontop of the sub. and if there are a tun of pins and fruits wouldnt getting soked be a bad thing? guess i could just spray around them?

Approximately how much water could you reasonably add per unit of substrate? (1/2 cup water for 1 gallon of substrate, for example?) Would it harm pins to pour water on them?

Fill the water till its about half way up the side of the substrate. And pins can survive dunks so no they wont be hurt
