Looking at the Psilocybin Production Extract Guide
Here
People have debated the potency of mycelium through their flushes. I was wondering if anyone Actually knew if the potency of mycelium was comparable to the potency of carpophores (fruits) If so, This process COULD work. But then the debate still stands about the potency comparison of the two.

thats been discussed here and on other boards. No one has actually seen good results out of it. The amount you would have to produce would have to be so astronimically high, that it wouldnt't be worth the effort.
just grow fruits.

There is also the problem of potency varrying at different ages of the mycelium. Exhaustive studies would need to be done to determine when exactly peak potency of mycelium is. Some guy name something/zen/something posted a lot of details he said he worked out. Search for it. If you are interested.
I recently saw something I thought was interesting. A friend had a quart of wheat grain that had been forgotten about. It sat for about 2 months. The jar was full of mycelium piss and generally nasty lookin. I said it was toast, and worthless. Friend didn't listen and used it to do a Grain to grain transfer. When he broke it up, it stained into a dark blue mush, absolutely no white at all. I said, damn, see it's worthless. Well, the jar actually recovered fine and the 2nd generation grew out quickly, but the point is that the 2 month old mycelium was definitely more potent than fresh mycelium. But that timetable may bear no resemblence to a liquid culture. And what parameters are really at play there? Does it have to do with excessive nutrients, lack of nutrients, simple age of mycelium, rate of growth etc.
I say for now, far too many variables for the average home cultivator to consider. If somebody were retired and devoted a year or two to do the experiments and work out the paramaters, it'd be a great method. Until then, why bother?
-------------------- "From a certain point of view" -Jedi Master Obi Wan Kenobi PM me with any cultivation questions. I just looked at my profile and realized I had a website at one point in time on geocities, it's not there anymore and I have no idea what I had on it. Anybody remember my website from several years aga? PM if so please.

My cakes seem to bruise faster after they've had a flush. So I would say post flush myc is more potent, but I don't know. Anyway, it'd be nice if there was an easy and clean method for getting the goods from spent substrate, but now it just seems like too much hassle for a small yield.

eating old cakes... especially verm brf... just seem like eating a piece of sponge-ass. Fruits are much more impressive, porbably taste better, and are alot more fun to grow than just white mold. I think extensive research should be done on the potency of actual fruits grown on different substrates, different casing layers, and of different strains. This information would be much more useful to people who actually are gonna make an effort at this hobby.. and not just stop half way without finishing the job. Plus, why eat a spent cake when you can just grow mushrooms or smoke some bud. Unless you got some kinda fixation where u gotta get buzzed off mushrooms every night, im sure you can hold off before you can actually have a full trip off actual shrooms. -the doc
