Pin Appearance

How would you describe the first stages of a pin in appearance...do they look like hundreds of tiny white dots?

you can tell, it either looks like a hyphal knot, which is a big white clump, or you see little pin heads.  there usually aren't hundreds of them....unless im doing something wrong

The little "tiny dots" are primordia which will turn into hyphal knots and then pins and then shrooms

And then straight to pins? Maybe it's dependent on the strain, I've been growing Eq's and PR's lately and the casings are very covered in hyphal knots now, woohoo :D

I have a mix. I have one myco bag of B+ and the other is EQ. The have both been sitting in my office in 66 degree temps for four months from incubation to date. It took four months for the cakes to turn 90% white. Finally I realized something was very wrong. Someone here gave me a link yesterday for an incubator. I made it from a fish tank, a tupperware container that sits inside the tank with a aquarium heater. Now I have a constant temp of 75 with a humidity level of 90%...and Im seeing lots and lots of little white round dots..the other cake just looks like a snowy hillside that melted a little and froze over...it looks a little slick...that one concerns me a bit...but its only been 24 hours since Ive removed them from their bags and placed them in this new home.

As long as the temp remains consistent, and they get some light and fresh air a couple of times a day, you'll soon be seeing plenty of pins   Not long to wait now, lucky you.  Enjoy your grow.
