Clustered mushrooms are generally a favorable genetic trait.

I don't think he is talking about a cluster, but more like actually growing TOGETHER. This is a mutation, fairly common among mutations. Have you used any black light or UV light? Lysol or anything of the sort?
If not, just a random mutation and nothing to really worry much about.

PE is prone to mutation, so I have heard, haven't had the pleasure of growing them yet. It should be fine, this stuff happens routinely and isn't much to worry about. IME mutations form more often on cakes rather than casings. I actually haven't had a mutation yet. So don't worry, they will still do thier job, just think of it as a dose in one.

I saw the note there "i notice some of my mushroom were shaped like fingers"
I'm not an expert or anything, less than a couple of grows under my belt, but in the many times i've failed i learned alot. If fingers are coming from your shrooms, i would asume that they are known as "Schizophyllum commune" they wont get u wat u want... but i believe they are quite harmless. They bear the hallmarks of fingers like shrooms, and most of them will open up a small one of top of their pins.... i had them accidentally once, got me all hyped up thinkin that my grows are looking very good, turns out they are Schizophyllum commune... just hope no one has to go thru wat i did, waiting eagerly only to find out they are not wat i wanted.

That is my signature, a quote from Magash
When he was still fairly new to growing. He complained of contaminates, yet noticed they were in the shape of fingers.
IE: He touches his cakes way to much and they were just bruised, not contaminated =)

i got a bruise on my arm once. the doctor diddnt even think of amputation. he said i would be fine.
its ok to touch cakes. dunk and roll, throw it against a wall, roll it again, fruit it.
why are people so timid about mycelium getting messed up?
cubes have been surviving for millions of years. i think they can handle some abuse.
but yeah it seems like they do weird shit, sometimes, randomly. ive never heard the term "Schizophyllum commune"
anyone care to explain this?
