Corn Steep Liquer
    #1061034 - 11/17/02 09:46 PM (21 years, 5 months ago)

i was just wondering if anybody knew anything about this stuff.

i was just reading about the discovery of penicilin and how it came about.

i read that scientists found that Corn Steep Liquer (a by-product of corn proccessing apparently) increased the production of penicilin by the mould by 10 times!.

obviously it would have to be boiled to kill alcohol

just curious to see what people thought about this

running a search only tells me that fishermen use it to attract fish

Corn steep liquor is an ingredient in dry dogfood. Look up information regarding DFA (dog food agar) which takes advantage of the easily extracted corn steep liquor in dogfood for use in agar culture.

I assume that your interest is to see if using this stuff will increase production of psilos in mushies the same way it increased the production of penicilin?

Well, I'll play optimist and tell you that you just might be on to something. You should do an experiment or three and see. Let us know.

PM me with any cultivation questions.

I just looked at my profile and realized I had a website at one point in time on geocities, it's not there anymore and I have no idea what I had on it. Anybody remember my website from several years aga? PM if so please.

In reply to:

liquor just means liquid, there is no alcohol in corn steep liquor
