Appears to be a blue staining bolete. Take pictures in full sunlight or bright shade.

Psilocybe graveolens was only found in the NJ Hackensack marshes some 90 years ago, don't get your hopes up on finding that one

When I first (mis)read this I thought you meant that the longer GK posts here, the more you feel like banging your head against the wall, hahaha!
But yes, I would say my tolerance has gone down, not up, as a result of this forum!

Do they have GILLS or PORES? Pores may resemble sponge.

I agree that it looks to be some sort of bolete.
I've done some research on Psilocybe graveolens and noticed something interesting. P. graveolens is a temperate species in the section Zapotecorum. Most species in this section are tropical/subtropical. The only other temperate species in the section Zapotecorum is Psilocybe aucklandii.
The spores of both species are very similar in size (as well as other microscopic and macroscopic features).
Psilocybe graveolens [U.S.A., New Jersey]spore lengths(7.0) 7.5-9.5 (10.5) Psilocybe aucklandii [New Zealand] spore lengths (6.5) 7.0-9.5
I propose the possibility that P. graveolens was an adventitious fruiting of P. aucklandii.

They would be called Psilocybe graveolens then, since that species was formally described 100 years before before P. aucklandii
P. aucklandii is also described as having a strong odor.

Another note on graveolens... the season is reportedly mid to late fall, but we have to assume that they were only collected during this time once, when they were originally described. Could the original discovery have been similar to a fall ovoid fruiting? (i.e. something that is known to take place but isnt really reliable). Perhaps it would be worth the would-be grav hunters time to expand the hunting season to early-late spring, or even summer. I spent a lot of time planning graveolens hunts last fall, after going on a few of them, I threw in the towel. I'd wager that most of the people on here don't realize how disgusting much of northern NJ is...hiking through the marshes of the meadowlands is NOT something most people in their right mind would be excited about doing...garbage is EVERYWHERE, the water is absolutely foul, and if youre looking in a public park, be ready to get harrased by either a cop, or a gay cruiser.

Its possible but not likely, P. aucklandii is also a fall mushroom.
Fall begins in March in the southern hemisphere.
Most all mushroom species will fruit out of season if the conditions are right.
