Just a couple of questions about LC

I started a LC about 4 days ago according to Otto's tek. It's a honey LC. I've been swirling it gently about once a day to oxygenate the water. I just had a couple questions...
1.) I have stuff that sort of clumps up in the jar but I think it's just the honey. Doesn't look white like in other people's pics, but since the water is slightly tinged with the honey color, how will I be able to tell if it's myc vs. honey?
2.) I'm leaving for a vacation on July 11th. If my LC isn't done by then, how long could I leave it in the drawer where it's colonizing? I could have my roommate give the jar a swirl every day, that's no problem. But how long can it sit? Or if it's not ready, what should I do?
Thanks a lot for any help!

1- The honey will be consumed by the mycelium.
2- You can store it in the fridge. Your roommate could put it in the fridge when it's done. When the mycelium gets thick and consumes the honey.

Okay, thanks a lot man. Cool
Alright, so I'll just watch it for as long as I'm here because it most likely won't be ready by the time I leave. I'll show my roommate what the mycelium looks like and what to watch for in the next few days, to gently swirl the solution, ect.. Sounds good to me!
Is there a good chance that my LC won't even be done by the time I get back? Which would make close to 2.5 weeks. The average incubation temp has been 77 (+/- 2 degrees).

Yeah, 2,5 weeks, that's very possible, depends on the amount of honey. Just tell him if the honey gets used up to put it in the fridge.

Okay, cool!
Once I get it out of the fridge, do I let it warm up to room temperature before I swirl it up and suck the solution into my syringe?

Your LC can be done where ever you have a decent amount of myc broken up in it. It's not advantageous to have the myc consume all the nutrients. Once well colonized you can store in the fridge to slow down consumption. I recommend using it up before or shortly after nutes have been consumed then inoculate another LC with a syringe full and go again keeping it fresh and vigorous.

just a tip.
to help cut out contamination risk inoculate your next jar of honey water with your LC before you inoculate any jars, or bags. that way if you accidentally contaminate the old LC while inoculating it wont matter to the new LC.
as the myc eats all the yummy honey the water will clear up.
you can put it in the fridge anytime you want. even if its far from max colonization it will just pick up where it left off at when it warms up again.
