i heard best way was in front of a fan. then use calcium chloride to take the rest of the moisture out.
what if i just use calcium chloride only.
how long does it take to dry in front of a fan?

Buy a food dehydrator its worth the cash. 30-40$ Drys them in 6hrs or less. Fan takes around 24hrs.

You always use a fan first, and then use the desiccant to finish up. If you tried to use desiccant from the start, you'd have a pool of water in your tupperware. RR

Fan drying gets rid of the majority of water the desiccant takes care of the rest. Cracker dry!

Are you getting good results from this? I actually bought this but returned it because I didn't like how hot it got.

Just lay them out on any kind of tray and point a fan on them set on low they will dry quite a bit over night no need for dehydrator trays they don't work good at all for the obvious reason that there is no height between trays when stacked of course you can always cut the caps off all of them! LOL Anyone want a bag of stems? LOL Not that caps are any more potent than stems it's just the appearance that gets most people.

One point that was missed with the fan is that the humidity will slow or speed drying.

yeah fan drying only does so much in a humid environment. @ %95 humidity it takes a while to even get them to shrivel, and to be mostly dry. after that desiccant is needed to get them cracker.

The humidity in my area is 80-90% every day lately fan drying will only do so much and my desiccant is mush if I try it even after two days of fanning. I have resorted to using the oven, throw them on a tray and put the oven on low with the door cracked. Works like a charm, but with high humidity you need to store them quick or they will absorb the humidity again. GL, CH

The heat it produces drys it quicker. It however does not get hot enought to hurt potency.
It takes over 125f to break down psilisibin or even more.
Moving air + heat = Cracker Dry 6hrs.

My dehydrator reads 150 on my candy therm. I eat the cracker dry fruits and I get all sorts of fucked up. I'm not convinced that such temps harm potency.
I've eaten them fresh and dry. Oh well ... if it does harm the potency then I don't care because I have a ton of cracker dry fruits in 4 hrs or less. Can't beat that kind of convenience.

They say it's actually over 400F where psilocybin and psilocin break down. I hear you guys about the RH definitely!!!

The first time I grilled some cube caps(blue cheese, ranch, chedder and pepper) I thought the heat would make them non-active. Boy was I wrong they tasted so good I ate four very large caps and wow, just wow. CH

What was that recipe again that sounded good just what I need for the fireworks on the fourth! I have had fans in 60% humidity take as long as a week and half to dry out enough for desiccant. But I get big portabella's

Blue cheese, a drop of ranch, chedder and pepper to taste. Its awesome these shrooms can taste so good. Yeah portabellas that is. CH
P.S. Grill on high until cheese has melted, keep foil(sprayed with pam) under them they do get a little slimey.

I've always just used a straight desiccant chamber. Everyone seems to think damp-rid is the only thing out there. That stuff sucks because it turns into water. I just went to the local hobby shop and asked them where the silica gel for drying flowers was and got that. Reusable and everything. It takes a couple days to get cracker dry in there, but then again I'm never in a rush to get them dry.
