SPECIES 2      Habitat: found on dead leaf covered ground in forest.

GILLS: porous, White

STEM: Short stubby sort of bulbous, Tan with scale like markings

CAP: Brown to dark brown wet looking (maybe from weather) Convex

SORRY NO SPORE PRINT

mild mushroom scent I think it might be Boletus aereus but Wiki doesn't state my location

And here are other mushrooms we found not asking for ID but if anyone wants to I would appreciate it

Some Amanita  muscaria

And a bunch of unknowns to me

This one looked like a big jellyfish sitting on the ground not slimy though

A few more boletus I think this one is a Bi-Color Bolete

And a few more boletus

And these little guys were everywhere not sure if they are fungus or plant

And a few more finds

Was a good day in the woods I'm hoping we have some good bole ts cause we found a bunch

RE: "these little guys were everywhere not sure if they are fungus or plant"

It's Indian pipe, a "parasitic" plant without chlorofil.

RE: "And few more finds"

I would not eat those

the first boletes up top are good edibles though

All mushrooms are edible but some are edible only once. :mushroom2:

Thank you psily The top two were the only ones I want to eat. The others were just what we saw on our walk. And thank you for clearing that up with the Indian Pipe my friend and I both were close with the name but we couldn't agree between plant or fungus (I was right lol). I look forward to enjoying my boletus.

Do you know if they are Boletus pinophilus or Boletus edulis? I'm leaning towards the second but if someone can clear that up would be great

How is it doing in NE PA? I am hoping to be backpacking in the area in a month and hope its still popping with mushrooms. I will be in Monroe county, so probably similar climate/ forest.

Man thanks Alan Rockefeller you are one of the Identifiers I was waiting for. You always know your stuff and right to the point now I can research them all. I like to learn as many species as possible. Thanks again

The mushrooms should be growing even better then. It's been very rainy here 8 days straight of downpours of up to 2" and I think it's been halting some from fruiting we found all of ours on a mountain side where the soil was a little dryer lowland areas seem to be soaked right now.The rains are leaving this week so it should be excellent for hunting :goodluck: And enjoy your camping trip. And found in the same area

I have family that live on a lake over in Monroe county, my cousins also are into mycology and we share a few chantarelle spots, black trumpet spots, a creekside covered in yellow foot chantarelles, some stumps with chicken of the woods, and a spot of Boletus edulis. sry for any misspellings, sobriety is currently defeated...

Sounds like a sweet area you should have some luck. I have only found one chicken mushroom so far this year and only a few oysters. With the rains ending hoping to find some more soon

May I ask what kind of trees the oysters were on? When ever I am in that part of the country I can't for the life of me find them!!!
