again no myc growth in the jars, i opened the jars and its the same as the last 2 times, a mild yet repugnant foot like odor, large wet stains where innoc took place, and the material in the jar has become compacted and sort of caked but NO growth at all. could this be a gas exchange issue?

Sounds like a bacterial contam. What substrate/grain? How long did you sterilize for?

brf/verm/tapwater in 1/2 pints, mask taped holes, covered with foil, 10psi cooker for 2 hours, cooled for 6 hours, innoc'ed in a storage tote glove box, left to sit in the dark warm closet for about 3 weeks and nothing but caked up material and foot stench, but no visible contams.

Also you removed the tape after inoculating correct?

okay i will give the entire process in detail mixed the verm with water [and yes. proper amounts] mixed brf into the verm/water mix filled 4 1/2 pint jars loosely filled top half inch rim with dry verm put masking tape strips over the 4 holes of each jar molded sheets of a-foil around the tops PC'ed in a 10 psi for 2 hours [on high8 for 30 mins then low3 for the rest] cooled for 6 hours brought pc into bathroom transferred jars into plastic storage tote glovebox removed foil, didnt remove tape cuz the cover was closed over it.. so i innoced through the tape flame sterilized needle innoced 1/4 cc into each hole brought the tote into my room, placed jars into closet with 75-80 degs F heat, waited a few weeks and nothing.

dont use distilled water for preparing your substrate. spring or tap is fine. dont incubate in a warm dark closet.. but these arent the reasons for your shortcomings.. could be a few other things like bacteria or moisture content. you just have to keep trying to you get it right. most people dont mess up the brf pf tek..its just way too easy. so give it another whirl.

funny you say that because the tape was very damp, and the holes poked slightly closed up a little because of the tape [which is why i thought maybe gas problem]
but it cant be just the wet masking tape because the first attempt was without anything on the holes besides the foil and the same result happend

Ya, it doesn't sound so bad. I'd scrap the masking tape - not required.
Hmm... Did you remember to shake the hell out of the syringe before inoculating? I forgot once and those jars took forever to germinate (months). A couple never did.

Make sure when you put foil over the jars its on there really good and also you may want to try using a little less water, I had that mistake with mine

They should germinate even if taped up. It's just that growth will stall later without some gas exchange, so the holes must be open. Leave the tape off, or use micropore tape instead.

My guess is that either your sterlization was not effective or your inoculation technique introduced contamination.
A few ideas include,
If all the jars had the same odor, the jars were not sterile. (I go 15 psi for 90 minutes. I'm not sure about the effectiveness of 10 psi) If your sterile technique was sloppy, I'd usually expect to see various types of contams.
A great troubleshooting tip is, don't inoculate one jar in a PC run. If you run into problems, and that one jar goes down to contams, then the problem is with PCing technique. If the one jar stays clean, and all others contam, the problem is with the sterile technique or a contaminated syringe.
