First Jar with Rye Is this contaminated?

First time using Rye, this is the Texas Strain. Are those white blotches part of the mushroom/mycelium or is a contaminate? Also I noticed the top part of the jar was fuzzy, is that normal? It's probably nothing, I just want to double check with the experienced people

More pictures would let me tell you for sure but I am 80% sure that the jar is contaminated.
Looks like trich and bacterial contaminants to me.

I wouldnt throw this out just yet. It looks like your jar is fruiting in-vitro. The little spots that I think youre referring to are where its trying to pin. If it is trich, it will sporulate in a few days and you will see green spots on it. If its a bacterial infection, you should see a milky substance on the sides. I dont see either of those. While the pictures arent so hot, the fluffy part on the top appears to be healthy mycelium. Give it a few days and make sure it doesnt turn green or get milky. After that, id say its ready to go.

Pretty sure those jars are suffering from a bacterial infection.

I agree. If you ever become suspicious about having a contam but aren't sure give it a good shake and bust it all up getting it all mixed up good. The next few days it will be unmistakable if you've got a contam because it will take over the mycelium after it is in a weakened state. Sounds funny, but it's what I do whenever I get one that I'm unsure about. When I use popcorn you get some pretty funky lookin colors that look like contams. I've had many popcorn jars that looked terrible till they recovered that otherwise would have been tossed. most contams are easy to tell, but this method is foolproof.
