Drums....

I dunno how many of you play drums or not.
But you should.....
And I dont know how many of you trip shrooms or not.
But you should.....
And if you havent tried both together......
I am a novice when it comes to music and rhythym.... I bought a djembe recently, And I dont know if other drums are like this, tho I imagine they are somewhat similar.....
I dunno how to describe it.... like, when that rhythym grabs a GOOD hold of your hands........ and the singing voices are coming out of that skin........ and your body has taken on a mind of its own..... sweat..... speed and power you didnt even know you were capable of....... and the rhythm holds together..... even if you stop playing for a minute........ BOOM still comes back in, right on time........ Woo000ooo-eee.
I dunno how to describe it. But it was fun remembering and trying.
Just currious if anyone has any idea what I am talking about?

yes! i never had experience with drums before i hung out with a couple guys i met at a park. i got to know them, hung out with them for a few months, then dropped some acid with them at their house and they started playing djembes.
4 guys in a small house playing drums. it felt like the house was shaking, it was right next to the hood so im surprised no one called the cops.
i cant explain what happened when they got playing. it took my trip pretty much from a 1 to a 10. not using shulgins scale, just saying, it made me trip waaay harder than i was already tripping. it felt like i got lost in the sound, the sound of the drums going up and down and in and out. i was sittin in a chair but i really wanted to just lay on the ground and experience this weird, almost place it felt like. it was like some sort of trance. it was fucking badass.
just hung out with those guys about 20 minutes ago too. listened to them drum for a bit. im saving money to get one in the near future.

I havent drummed with anyone yet.
I bet it is so much fun.
You should definatly get some money together and buy one.
If your looking at djemebes.
I got mine from e-bay http://myworld.ebay.com/music200500/
$119 for a plain no carving 24x12 which rocks my world.
I dont know what they have up for bid now.... but I am looking for a smaller one to carry around places.

Shamans used drums to access other realms. I assume, often times, along with their entheogens of choice...
Keep the beats goin, guys. I gotta get new skins for my bongos...

It's not only drums, either. I think pretty much any instrument is enhanced during the psychedelic experience. It's as if the instrument you play (guitar in my case) works as a catalyst to express the beauty that is flowing inside you.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. I play the full drum set and I'm in a band and one of the greatest tripping experiences I've ever had was tripping on shrooms and jamming with everyone. It felt like we were having conversations back and forth between our instruments. It was probably the strongest feeling of connection between us that any of us have felt.

My parents got me a pair of tablas but never got me proper lessons. I was never too good at playing them till I dropped three hits of cid and spent the whole trip making beats. We were doing sensory deprivation except I would play drums while it was going on, it was a pretty insane experience. Everyone felt like the drum beats that I played directed and controlled their trips.
I would say my style of drumming is heavily influenced by my use of hallucinogens, especially LSD.

last time i played bongos whilst tripping was during a DOC experience, sitting on a dock for 5+ hours at a lake under the sun just taking it all in.

I got to see Zakir hussain play at the Corssroads guitar festival years back. That was my original inspiration for learning to play tablas.
