You would want a see trough shotgun terrarium.

He's talking about spawning to bulk, so I'm not so sure a shotgun would be ideal. From what I've seen, most people use a monotub setup for bulk substrates. If you're determined to go the shotgun route, it would be best to have a transparent chamber to allow light to get to the fruiting cake.
If you don't wanna use shit, I'd go with coir/coffee/verm. And take the tape off of your inoculation holes... assuming you have a dry verm layer, the tape isn't necessary.

If you don't want to use any hpoo then use coir and straw. You are definitely going to have to spawn those if you want to get a decent yield. I would make a couple of monotubs and then maybe a little tray to go in the shotgun.

think i could get some good fruiting by putting the whole colonized bulk "cake" in the sg/fc with some casing on top.
There's a pic of something that resembles a shotgun just below so... which is opaque blue.

Oh hell, I didn't even notice that he's got a transparent top! Hell yeah, that would work awesome as a shotgun if that's the route you're going to go!

Tall half pints don't tend to yield as much. That is why I would suggest spawning. After having a few really good monotubs I have found no need to go back to cakes unless testing an lc or isolate.

I dont like straw for a PF grow.. I prefer a Coir mix of some kind. I use 60/40 - Coir / Verm with coffee grounds added & a tsp of light corn syrup.
BTW, you should start looking into WBS or Rye. You will need a PC but it's worth it if your gonna make this a hobby not just a one time project.
