Ive got a substrate that just finished up a really good flush but it also has a ton of aborts. Is it absolutely necessary to pick all of those off? that would take some time.

Make sure they're aborts and not your next flush before you pick any!

Oh ya without a doubt! Just wanted to make sure some often clean the slate pins and all! What a waste! That is a ton of aborts it would be nice to know for sure why so many aborted beside speculation. Just make sure ya save them all they make for some intense experiences!!

Oh yea. ive had my best times with aborts. Not sure why so many aborted. I got a really good flush out of it though. A little over 5 oz's dry. Its an isolate ive been working on. I think maybe because the mushrooms that did mature took all the nutrients? thanks for the help hyphae.

How deep is your substrate? I'm thinking they all wanted to bolt at the same time either that or that great flush sucked out a lot of moisture quickly from that substrate aborting them. No casing layer eh?

Id say the substrate is 4.5-5" deep. And yea no casing. I havent cased for awhile now. But now that i have a good isolate my next grows are going to be some side by sides with casing and no casing. My sub likes to dry out around the poly holes and im going to see if casing helps me out there.

Trust me casing will help with a sub that deep you'll be cheated if you don't get 3-4 good flushes with a casing layer plus way fewer aborts if managed right remember your developing fruits will suck most of there moisture from the casing layer so keep it hydrated! GL

I don't eat aborts. Can't stand the idea nor the look of them.

There nice. Potent by weight. I would eat 'em. I dry aborts and pins by folding them in a single paper-towel placed inbetween trays in my dehydrator. They will be dry a little while before the larger specimens are with this method. ~Pixie~

It's just that... Look at them... it's such a morbid image!... I can't look at that, pick and eat. If I didn't know where they came from yeah, I'd eat them but... they look bad, my trip would suck. I'd rather give them to anyone.
