You can keep it in the freezer to head off any contams if you aren't going to use it all today. As long as you see anything growing in there you should be fine.

It looks ok, actually. IDK I just threw out the rest of the bag, I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Here's what you do. Go back to the grocery store. Go to the aisle with the brown rice. Get some of that. Go over to the aisle with the coffee beans and the big coffee grinder where you can grind your own coffee. Put your brown rice through that big grinder. Voila- fresh brown rice flour that's very cost-efficient.
This idea's been promulgated through the forums for some time now.

I don't think it can expire, I think they have to sell by that day, helps the producer of that product ensure that you always get a good quality product.
Hope that helps.

It does not expire its just a quality issue. even if you they brown rice was still good would you want a dust old bag? Would you buy a dusty old bag of brown rice even if it was good? Most ppl would not so they use a sell by date. Mushrooms only eat decay anyway.
just go chill out your fine.

I would eat that brf myself so you know I would feed it to my mushies. Hell, I might even drink some milk that was two weeks past the expiration date as long as it didn't stink. You sound like my girlfriend

You're being overly-cautious for no reason.
Flours have expiration dates because their oils can go rancid after a while, just like nuts. It has nothing to do with their carbohydrate levels.

Truth is I did figure it was alright, I just like to be really careful. I should have just bought some rice and grinded it like 'ol times. We'll see how these 31 jars do compared to jars with fresh BRF. Probably the same...
